Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good flooring, poor stair nosing The quality seems good so far and the installation is easy enough. It makes it a bit harder to get the floor level in the basement laying it on concrete with only being able to use a 6mm plastic sheet for a vapour barrier. I also bought the nosing which brings the rating down to 3 stars. The stair nosing is just plastic with a vinyl sticker on it which had already started to peel off in places. I am hesitant to use it as there is nothing protecting the sticker on such a high traffic area.

It worked out perfectly and made our space brighter and wider-looking! I love that it's waterproof and has a wood-grain finish that all our guests love. I would purchase again.

The t-section and the nose pieces for the steps are NOT available. Had to hunt for them in the US. hence, the one star deduction. It must be perceived as a whole pakage and not having all the required pieces available is an important issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Bought and installed. I bought it on sale for a significant discount. But is one of the better luxury vinyls I've worked with. I was slightly apprehensive given some of the negative reviews, but I'm suspicious there was some installation errors on those. I installed this on a slightly uneven floor and it conformed perfectly to the floor. Feels great on the feet. Great cushion and texture. Colour as advertised. You MUST hammer down every joint (I use a hockey puck at the joint for this purpose), AND even out every joint laterally to make the seam perfect. A vinyl flooring jig will make this possible. This flooring is not forgiving if you do not follow these two vital steps. I have used other luxury vinyl products where it's not always necessary.

The draw back is in the kitchen I had to keep the kitchen cabinets weight off the floor. This ment drilling a hole for each leg of the cabinets so that they sat on the subfloor.

Can this flooring be installed directly over ceramic tile even if the grout lines are lower than the tile surface. Grout lines are approx 1/4 inch

Recommended to skim coat and fill in the grout lines to create an even subfloor. INSTALLATION RIGID CORE: 1. Prior to installing properly prepare the area – clean the subfloor, check the flatness of the subfloor and make any corrections needed to achieve the proper flatness of the subfloor. Test the subfloor for moisture to ensure that the proper moisture levels are in place. 2. Use a jamb saw or a handsaw to undercut all door jambs/door casings as needed. You can take a scrap piece of flooring and place it along the edge of the door jamb to use as a guide to cut the proper height. This is a critical step to allow the flooring to properly fit underneath the door jamb/casing and to allow for expansion. 3. Using a tape measure determine the squareness of the room/s and adjust as needed. You will start at the longest wall – preferably at an outside wall and begin to lay the planks out working from the left to right. 4. Set the wall spacers in place for proper expansion space. You can use a piece of blue painters tape to hold them in place and do not remove the spacers until the installation is complete. 5. Work from several cartons of material at a time to blend the material and create a random look.

Perimeter expansion is required for floating floors – maintain proper expansion space based on the total square footage – for areas less than 2500 sq. ft – minimum expansion space is ¼” areas larger than 2500 sq. ft. – maintain a space of 3/8” to 1/2”. • Material has a pre-attached underlayment – do not use or add additional underlayment underneath the flooring as this will void the warranty.

Can this flooring be installed over DMX 1 step 2.0 and not void the warranty?

not suggested, at your own risk. Do I Need to purchase an additional underlayment? The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Rigid Core 7.13” Wide and 9.13” Wide x 48” or 60” Length has a 1mm IXPE underlayment/pad attached and does not require additional underlayment. We also suggest do not add additional underlayment underneath the flooring as this will VOID the warranty. After moisture is under control to normal acceptable levels, If a moisture only barrier is needed due to installation over a concrete slab suggest using a 6mil thickness with an option being Internet# 100578718 or Model# 70-115; Moisture Barricade polyethylene Underlayment - 6mil Poly Foam- 20 sq. ft. 10 ft. x 12 ft. x 0.006. Please follow the details outlined in the installation guidelines, located under "Info & Guides" on each product listing page. Why does it say it is waterproof but then a "product expert" says not to let "any amount" of water get on it because it can seep between the cracks and cause water damage??

Malibu wide Plank Rigid Core Vinyl Flooring is waterproof, however if you have a flood your going to want to mitigate all water, clean up so it does not penetrate through to the subfloor where the planks meet your walls. Common household spills will not cause any issues, its the flooding, water trapped underneath the floor can cause issues if not dried out.

I would like to install Malibu Wide Plank (MWP) over Dricore Insul-Armor Subfloor on a basement concrete floor. Is this a problem? Would this void the MWP warranty?

For further assistance on installation of moldings call our Home Depot Technical Services department @ 800-928-6168. - Approved Subfloors: Concrete, APA rated Plywood & OSB, Particleboard, Ceramic tile, Non Cushioned Sheet Vinyl (single layer). - Non Approved Subfloors: Wood subfloors/Sleepers or Wood flooring installed directly over concrete, Carpet or Carpet Padding, Floating wood or laminate floors, Rubber or Cork floors. all Malibu Wide Plank Rigid Vinyl Flooring can be installed on, above, or below grade and is an excellent choice for a below grade basement. Our tech team has read details on the Dricore subfloor, and this does not seem to be a good fit, we do not recommend.

can the wide plank flooring be laid in a herringbone pattern, or will it look too "busy"

Herringbone /Chevron patterns need a left and right tongue & Groove pattern, and this floor cannot be installed in this installation method. We suggest Brick, Ashlar, or stagger install method.
