When we first received it and had not yet installed, I thought it had a pinkish tone at certain times of day. Once it was installed, this is not true. I absolutely love it and am thrilled with the selection.

There's a bit of a knack in getting it to interlock tightly without damaging the material but once you have that you're off! One thing I have noticed is a funny noise when you brush your socks or hands over the floor. The sound tells you that it's not tightly adhered to the floor, which is true as I put in a floating floor. I notice it because it's adjacent to existing hardwood which is nailed down and sounds much more solid. Didn't see that in any of the material on the web ... and not a showstopper regardless

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete garbage Just installed these and seriously regret it. Always looks dirty (we use Bona floor cleaner). The floors dent, scuff and scratch so easily; we replaced 50 year old floors with something that will, without a doubt, need to be ripped out in 5 years. We are SUPER careful around them, but there really should be no need to baby a hardwood floor. Very expensive mistake and, as my partner works in home renovations, you can be sure that he will NEVER allow any of his clients to use this product.

Yes, When choosing between the 3/8" and 1/2" versions, consider the additional features of both. 3/8" Thick x 6.5" Wide Click Lock has lengths to 47.6", with 70% of Boards in each case being full length, and this product has a 1.2mm Sliced Face Veneer thickness. 1/2” Thick x 7.5” Wide Tongue & Groove Engineered has lengths to 74.8”, with 50% of boards in each case being full length, and this product features a 2mm Sliced Face Veneer thickness.

Does this flooring have a matching transition strip and stair nose molding?

If you are using your existing wood stairs/stair Treads or Unfinished trim/moldings and you want to stain to coordinate with your flooring, suggest you take a medium tone (light, medium, dark planks choose the middle color range) prefinished flooring plank to your local store's paint department and develop a custom stain that will coordinate with the flooring, then stain and finish the moldings as needed. Once stained if needed you can coat with a polyurethane and choose an appropriate gloss level as your floor. Stair Risers are usually painted white or unfinished and purchased at your local store.

How does this flooring hold up with large dogs?

With a larger dog >40lbs, you may get some scratching. The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring is very durable, however If you look up the definition of Scratch resistant it essentially means that the product is able to withstand minor scratches. There are ways to prevent scratches on Hardwood Flooring by taking proper precautions to protect furniture and chair legs and feet with felt protectors. Moving heavy objects without a dolly and/or protective plywood beneath may cause damage to any type of flooring. Damage may also occur from spiked and/or high heels and pet claws. Falling objects can also dent or fracture any type of flooring. The entire Malibu Wide Plank Collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean, easy to maintain, and a great investment in your home that will return your hard earned dollars in the long run over other flooring alternatives.

Is this floor water proof? Can i use it in a kitchen and mud room?

The Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collection would be considered Water Resistant. If you review the definition of "water resistant" = able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely, most hardwood flooring would fall under this category, however key is how long the water, spill, liquid stays on the floor. If you spill water, drips from dishwasher, or track in water from outside etc, solution would be cleaning/drying up the spill. If you clean up the liquid within a reasonable timeline, there should be no issues. if you ever have a flooding in your home, then even though you decided to purchase a "Waterproof" flooring option, the installation would also need to be waterproof. If there is a major flood in your home, more than likely homeowners insurance would need to be involved based on monetary amount it would cost to attempt to salvage floor, do water remediation, re-install a new floor, rip out damaged floor etc. Hardwood Flooring is the flooring of choice among the majority of homeowners, is extremely durable, easy to maintain, and an excellent investment in your home. For a mudroom which is constantly exposed to snow, water suggest a waterproof hard surface floor with a waterproof installation.
