Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spend the time to double check them. Bought 3, one was not straight but I was putting it in the middle as a support in my deck stairs... it also wasn't uniformly cut and stuck out further than the other 2 I had on 2 of the steps. I ended up having to cut a bit off. Not super impressed. Got the job done, was cheap but defintiely double check that it's straight because my 5 steps almost all had different widths.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not square After buying these to save time vs building my own I had hoped to shave a bunch of time off of installing replacement stairs for my deck, that didn’t really happen. The stairs were 5 degrees off square, all four of the stringers. I managed to square them up with a chop saw and jigsaw but I should not have had too. Just for fun took a square into Home Depot last time in and found that none of the stringers were square.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not to code These Stringers are not to code because they are not one solid piece of wood. My inspection failed, I have to make my own and re-install.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Well Made One month later and one stringer fell apart. It is not constructed well and split into two pieces causing my stairs to collapse. I have never heard of something like this happening. An accident could have happened as these are a set of stairs for my pool that the kids use frequently. My Husband had to repair it. Cheaply made!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I paid extra and bought these thinking I would save some time. They're terribly inconsistent to the point that I would need to modify them pretty extensively to be usable. There's no good reason stringers can't be built consistently in the factory. And I'm not wasting my time to fix these. I'll build my own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing Bought 3 pieces yesterday one shaped little different does not match, the other two were warped, so I can't build my stairs and can't return right now. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible specs & worse answers to questions 1- Assembled Height (in inches) 26.5 / Height from Ground (ft.) 26 ?????? 2- What's the width of every step? The stringers can vary per province. You are selling these stringers all over Ontario & you don't state the rise &run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Caution on different sizes. It’s a good product but if you buy more than one check to ensure they match. Often they are not the same size off by 1/4” some times. Be sure to check this. Curb side pick up staff do not check it.

Can I cut those it 2 as I only need 2 steps? I do not want to use metal raisers.

Asked by: Pete
Hi Pete, if you do choose to cut this it will it can only be used as one stringer. You need the flat end to sit on the ground. Please be sure to use Cut N Seal on exposed wood. Please check your local building code for details.

how many steps do I need to get up to 50 - 52 inches?

Asked by: turtle
Hello a 5 step stringer will not work for 50". You will have to create your own from a 2x12. Please see your local Home Depot for a deck design.

What connectors are used to connect these stringers to a wood deck?

Asked by: Tomjc
Either metal corner brackets or 2x4 or 2x6 blocks between stringers mounted to face of deck. Put flush to top edge of stringer.

Would 2 of these be enough for a 52" wide step? We are building steps overtop of existing cement steps but the wood wont be coming into contact. We do have the option to support the middle however if required. But just to confirm, typically would 2 begood

Asked by: Doug0
Hello DougO, stringers should be spaced no more than 18 inches on center. Please check with your local building code for further reference.

Description states “4 steps, for an elevation of 28-1/2" and installed length of 36-1/2" BUT Specifications states “Assembled Height 52 inches”. Which is it - 28.5” or 52”? That’s a BIG difference.

Asked by: EMO2020
Pretty sure that’s just the actual product dimensions. Like if you put the stringer flat on the ground and drew a box around it from tip to tip, the box would be 9.5” wide by 52” long (and 2” tall). Technically that is the ‘assembled’ size (as ‘assembly’ of this product is just this one piece). Hope I’m making any sense!

I need a 2-step stringer, I'm thinking I could cut this in half and use it for 2 2-step stringers?

Asked by: Kevin
Hi Kevin Home Depot has a 2-step metal stringer in their assortment that would work best for your application. It is not recommended to cut the wooden stringers.
