Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful dehumidifier Very powerful dehumidifier! I wish I would have timed it, but once I opened the box and set it up, turned it on; my basement humidity dropped from 69 to 55 in no time. My other dehumidifier struggled to get below 60. I like the convenience of the app in monitoring the humidity levels and the fill level of the bucket. When full, the bucket is too heavy to carry to dump so it is very beneficial to be able to adjust the fill level. It has an option for a hose attachment and pump however I don’t have the ability to drain it anywhere in my basement at this time. I also like the design but having casters would be great to facilitate moving it around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, well made Machine [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently received the Midea 50-Pint CUBE Smart Dehumidifier with Pump, 3X More Water Capacity, ENERGY STAR MOST EFFICIENT for up to 4,500 sf, Black. This is a very high quality well made machine. I set it up in my wood shop (28’x28’) which will help prevent surface rust that get on my equipment when I do not use it some of the tools much, plus it will help all my equipment run better. I turned it on with 61% humidity in 1 hour it was down too 51%, over night it dropped to 38%. I’m very pleased with this and I wood recommend this to anyone who needs and dehumidifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dehumidifier! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a uniquely designed dehumidifier with different options for water removal. The bucket holds a lot more water than a traditional dehumidifier. You can also use it without the bucket with the included drain hose which you can run to a drain or hook up a garden hose type drain line. You can also set it to pump mode which will pump the water away, up to a 14 foot elevation. It operates quietly even on the highest fan speed. It dropped the humidity in my 1600 sq. ft. basement fro 66% to 52% in about 12 hours. It also connects to your WiFi network and can be controlled with the Midea app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good dehumidifier, that works as advertised I read reviews online and here on Home Depot and bought it. Had to drive to another store to get one in stock. We got hit with heavy rains in the past few weeks and the basement was over 70% humidity. The first use brought it down to 50%. I'm amazed at the amount of water this machine pulls out of the air. I'm very happy so far with a week or so of use. I'm currently using the bucket mode, but I'm going to use the continuous pump mode after I get some time. It has app function but I'm not using it. I have a humidity and temperature logger and the media is fairly accurate at tracking the humidity. It works well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This dehumidifier works well, but is not without some flaws.... This dehumidifier works well, but is not without some flaws. First off, the humidistat isn’t particularly accurate and the swing range is only 5%, so the dehumidifier frequently turns off and then immediately turns back on a minute or two later. Second the pump doesn’t kick on until the bucket is nearly full and doesn’t fully empty the bucket. That means at the end of the season you’ll need to lift the bucket and empty it by hand. The bucket gets very heavy even when just half full, so keep that in mind. Also some stagnant water will sit in the bucket all the time unless you empty it by hand. Other than that it does a good job at removing humidity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very short life span. Stay away! This is my second review since I can't add a comment to my previous review. I used this unit in normal conditions for 1.5 years and solid ice started forming on the coils. I contacted Midea - no help (JUST past the warranty). Midea responded to my review telling me to reach out. I did and they told me the EXACT same thing. Unit is broken and needs to be replaced - but I have to pay for it. Don't be fooled by their replies to bad reviews. Bad product - bad customer service. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a awesome dehumidifier that has three ways to remove the water from the huge four gallon ... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a awesome dehumidifier that has three ways to remove the water from the huge four gallon tank. You can choose to have the bucket fill with water then dump it yourself or connect a supplied drain hose and have it gravity drain into a drain or hook up a line to the pump and it will pump up to 14 feet above the dehumidifier out a window or other exit from your home. The app works good but when the tank is full it does not send a alert to my cell phone even though all the setting are turned on and push notifications are on so I set it to 4 gallons and check my phone every day and empty the bucket at around 3 gallons. The app is a great way to check the water level without having to go to my basement and see if it needs to be emptied. The unit will remove 50 pints a day and has 2 washable filters on each side of the condenser. My unit didn't come with the pump hose so I called the company and the person I spoke with could not find part number for the hose so I will have to buy one myself. I couldn't register it on line so I called Midea and he did it for me. The dehumidifier motor is heavy at about 40 pounds so if you choose to empty it just expect that the top motor is pretty heavy or you can choose the other 2 methods of water removal. Just remember that each gallon of water equals 8.34 pounds so 4 gallons is about 33.3 pounds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Will Do The Job Have a 2 story 2300 sq home. Purchased this dehumidifier because of moisture in the basement was causing doors on the top floor to not shut properly. After using this dehumidifier a couple of days it completed dried out any moisture and the upstairs doors shut properly now. This home was built in 2018. Gave it 4 stars though because it is impossible to remove the filters on each side to clean them without using a putty knife to get them started so you can pull them out. Very poor design for filter removal but very happy with the results of this dehumidifier. Had a GE before and it quit working after 1.5 yrs.

Can this unit be put into a plastic bin or a tray for protection from potential leaks?

Asked by: JKRT
Its not needed if the item is placed near a location where it can drain automatically. You have the option to choose how it drains continuously (with drain tube) or manually. It comes with a 8-12 foot drain hose and purges the water once it meets a certain threshold continuously. If you decide to drain manually, then you will be lifting and emptying a lot. This thing sucks up a lot of the humidity. The item will automatically shut off when it is filled and will not work until you dump the water if you are in manual mode. If you place in a bucket or equivalent in height it will be ineffective as you will cover the air intakes rendering it useless. A small tray will be fine, but i have never had a leak and it has been running continuously for the 9 months on continuous drain using the drain tube supplied.

Will this unit auto-shut off if the bucket is full? or will it continue to function

Asked by: Interested Buyer
It will auto-stop to avoid water overflowing. This unit also allows the user to decide what fill level for the unit to stop. Because it has such a large reservoir, it can become heavy to handle, so you can select what water level you want it to stop at (there are 4 levels to choose from).

can someone please tell me how to open the doors that houses the filters ? there is no way i can pull it out without using a sharp tool to pry the doors open. thats not a good idea but there has to be an easier way to do it that Im not aware of.

Asked by: Nonni
Hi, Nonni. Thank you for posting your question about the Midea 50-Pint CUBE Smart Dehumidifier. You can try to gently pry the filters out using a credit card or your fingers. You can also use drawer liner to get a better grip. Please me careful choosing the material you use to pry the filters open, as damaging the unit will void any warranty. Midea Customer Care. Asked by: HumidandSticky
The volume of the output bucket is 50 pints, but in use, the dehumidifier sits inside the top few inches, below which are some overflow holes. As a practical matter, if carrying a bucket to be emptied there will be some sloshing, and the useful capacity is kept somewhat below that to provide a "slosh safety margin"

Does it through hot air out the back ? Which puts that hot air into your home ?

Asked by: Mickey
It exhausts warmer air through the fan at the top. It’s not hot, but the air will be slight warmer than the air going into the unit.

Is the air hot coming out of the unit?

Asked by: Lark
I can’t explain the mechanics of how the Midea Cube works, but it does not operate like other dehumidifiers which I have owned.  The Midea unit emits cool to warm air and does not generate as much water as my prior dehumidifier.  I operate two Midea units in a 1,250 SF basement at our home in the Blue Ridge Mountains and extended the drip lines outside.  These units are extremely energy efficient.  As an aside I also installed a mini-split, which also reduces moisture.  These two changes drastically improved air quality and comfort.

Is this for a basement only? Or could this be used for a second floor with mainly bedrooms? I am trying to gauge how loud it is.

Asked by: Question41
We use it mainly for the basement however the basement is finished. It is a lot quieter then our last one.

Wool the pump automatically pump the water out when the level is reached or do I have to keep checking on it and manually push a button to get it to pump out. The point of getting this was so I didn't have to keep a eye on it.

This one needs to be babysat. You will need to manually push 2 buttons on the machine in order for it to go into pump-out mode. Go figure. So if you are away on vacation, the full bucket will be there waiting for you when ya get home.
