Rated 1 out of 5 by from Midea dehumidifier freezing up I purchased the midea humidifier may 21st 2022. We used it two seasons-from May to October. October 2023, it was not working. It was freezing up only about 1/3 from the bottom of the rad. I called to see about the warranty and answered several scripted questions. They wanted to find a service technician in the area but i didnt want to pay for these fees. I removed the cover to see if i could fix it. The rad face was rusted out. Everything else looked brand new. What a waste. This machine was not abused and was very clean. We paid over $430 for it and it didnt last 2 seasons. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Efficient Dehumidifier With Great Features I was intending to purchase another smaller unit (mainstream brand), but the features of the Midea got my attention. I did a comparison between other units and the Midea got better reviews and for my application, the garage, the Midea came out ahead. The manual is not great as it is translated from another language and does not always make sense, however, the controls are intuitive, making the need for a good manual less critical. I was not expecting a lot from the App, but it worked flawlessly and provided all of the controls and status I was looking for. The design has air intakes on three sides and exhaust on the top. This works very efficiently and adds to the effectiveness of this unit. The separate water collection bucket is a but quirky, but it does work well and in the off season, will make storage much easier. The plastics are not as refined as on the other mainstream brand unit, but overall, this is an efficient unit with great features that work. Of note, this unit has three methods for water collection, bucket/tank, gravity feed hose and pump, and as such, provides great options for water disposal. Of other note, this unit does draw over 9 amps, so might consume a bit more energy than other units, however, based on the effective design, I expect that it will not need to run as long as other units with smaller compressors and coils. In conclusion, while this is not what I would consider a mainstream brand, it is well designed and well featured and will effectively perform the job of dehumidification for most applications. i recommend this unit for those looking for a high efficiency dehumidifier with flexible features.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unfinished product The app does not update values. The schedule does not work. The unit cycles with blowing hot or cold air, but never stops. Nice design. poor performance. Pricey and unfinished. Did not test the water pump functionality. P.S. The review process is prohibitive as for Midea site so for HD.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Midea 50 pint Smart Dehumidifier I purchased this less than a year ago. This morning I could smell something electrical burning. Went downstairs, and even though my dehumidifier was turned off, it was making a sound like it was running. I checked and none of the buttons were lit up, it was still turned off but something inside was running, and you could smell the burning smell coming from the machine and machine was hot as heck. I immediately pulled the plug. Very lucky my house didn't burn down. Scary. Not sure what started up inside while turned off. I see on researching this brand that various models have been recalled over the years due to causing fires.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Shorter than expected life Had 2 of these. Each roughly lasted 6 months. I presume they started leaking coolant as none initially froze, and both were collecting condensate. But slowly started freezing up from the bottom, and gradually no condensate (when i noticed the freezing, i switched to filling the bucked instead). Filters did not even have i chance to get dusty, as I periodically checked. Unfortunately this is a design flaw in many modern dehumidifiers, so i am just using a series of fans on a smart plug these days - as there were other brands before the cube. Ps ran the cube 3 times a day each for 2hrs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Midea cube will become an ice cube! Junk. Worked ok for almost a year. Only major issue is that the filters are so difficult to take out and you need to clean them weekly. The app is glitchy at times but works ok. Big issue is that after one year the coils are now freezing over real badly. The manual says this is normal but I can confirm that this is not normal. It says it has an auto defrost feature but that does not work. It freezes wherever the filter is and yes it is clean. Only way to defrost is to unplug. I have a junk danby that is probably recalled that is 15 yrs old and is way better than this eco friendly piece of junk and it has not froze over once. The temperature is always above 20c when in use so I assume it is running low on refrigerant. When frozen over the unit just runs forever with no change in humidity. Will never buy a Midea again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HOT AIR This unit blows out HOT AIR!! as in my air conditioner cannot counteract the heat that's coming out of this unit. The dehumidifying is very good, the cube is useful design. Customer service went around in circles with me on chat support - it's not a heater, but yes it will warm the air, but it's only used when it's humid but shouldn't be that much and no one else has complained, but no it's not a flaw to be replaced...so kinda feels like a flawed design. I don't know if this is typical of dehumidifiers but it seems like it's not a great concept to heat up air that's already hot and humid! Unrelated...their customer service phone music is particularly irritating and on repeat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead after one spring I purchased the unit in late 2021 in preparation for the spring. It seems to work reasonably well for the 2 months I used it. I turned it on this spring and it seemed to work, but the humidity kept climbing. I cleaned the filters before starting it, I checked to make sure the coils weren’t icing up, and I ensured there was good airflow. I called Midea, but it’s 6 months past the warranty, so they will do nothing. Despite the great online reviews, a quick Google search shows tons of people with similar experiences. Stay away from this garbage.

Will this unit auto-shut off if the bucket is full? or will it continue to function

Asked by: Interested Buyer
It will auto-stop to avoid water overflowing. This unit also allows the user to decide what fill level for the unit to stop. Because it has such a large reservoir, it can become heavy to handle, so you can select what water level you want it to stop at (there are 4 levels to choose from).

Does it through hot air out the back ? Which puts that hot air into your home ?

Asked by: Mickey
It exhausts warmer air through the fan at the top. It’s not hot, but the air will be slight warmer than the air going into the unit.

The humidity sensor / reading has not changed since starting the unit and has only displayed a value of 30. The humidity level in the house is closer to 45-50 (from two other thermostats). Is there any way to troubleshoot this? Is it a malfunction?
