They are heavy and that's a good thing in my minds' eye to ensure proper movement along the track and makes it easy to apply a small pressure to get it moving. Contemporary styling also adds to the modern look we are striving to obtain. Sturdy, straight, solid, well made and will last a life-time unlike the pressed panel hollow doors that often warp. Super product.

We will purchasing several more come spring and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a true shaker style! They are heavy which indicates to me great construction!!!! Not hollow!!!

Is it supposed to be hung with 2 or 3 hinges?

There is no hinge cutout on those doors, so you can install it as you like. Normally it should be 3 for door like this as a code standard.

Yes, you can take some off the bottom or the top or a bit off both.  We had to to that to make the door fit.

I am having a hard time finding a 32" x 80 barn door. Can this slab be used for this purpose?

It is not really a "barn door", which is usually knotty pine. Can this door be used in replacement of a barn door, with the barn door sliding hardware? Absolutely. If fact, one of my clients has the exact same door with barn door hardware in his newly renovated house.

We are thinking to buy 3 18” panels and hang them as sliding doors in a 50.5” opening.  Can these be hung with closet door mechanisms so that they would overlap when opened?

Hello Terri3Tc, Milette Doors does not supply this type of installation hardware however our doors are compatible with most sliding track systems, and in many scenarios can be used on bypass tracks in which the doors overlap one another.
