[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This level is absolutely incredible, one of those tools that I never realized could be so much better than the basic one I had used for years. My usual 2' level works for many applications, but I have found that there are an incredible number of uses for a longer level, some that are easier than measuring and leveling individually, like hanging pictures down a hall, and some outdoor applications that would have been much more difficult, like leveling a garden wall on a slope, without this level. A friend also used it to level the surface of a table he built, which would have been difficult to complete without a level this size. I love all of my Milwaukee power tools, but this is the first I have used with a digital screen and I find it every bit as high quality as what I would expect from this brand. Top notch and easy to use, just make sure you have a good place to store it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am reviewing the 72 inch model of this level and I am a skilled home DIYer not a pro builder. First thing, The level arrived well packed with no issues. Mine came with a Milwaukee storage case as well which I really appreciated. The storage case was well made and the level fit perfectly. The level comes with a Milwaukee rechargeable battery and USB cable socket adapter and wall mount, it was partially charged when it arrived but I charged it according to the instructions before testing it. The set up was actually very easy and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The readout is in degrees and is easy to understand, the readout is bright and easy to read. I tried this out while leveling some flooring beams on my back porch, I am replacing the framing due to rot. The 72 inch length really helped level things quickly as I could correct multiple joist in one session. In general the length is a bit much for a homeowner and they do offer 24 and 48 inch versions. This would be ideal for installing doors and framing. The level itself is well made with machined surfaces. The digital readout is a vast improvement over a bubble level especially over wider spans where it really matters.

I have to admit that an old school guy like myself was pretty reluctant about the purchase of this new tech device. This level is so accurate, that it makes me want to go back and re-check some of my bubble level measurements. Now I have a hard time with a cell phone. But learning how to use this level was a breeze. Just do what it tells you to do. That simple. The viewing screens are well made, and easy to read. The carrying case keeps it well protected. And I love the 72 inch reach.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used traditional bubble levels - from 9” to 96” - for over 40 years in the building business and when I saw Milwaukee had developed a family of digital electronic levels I had to give one a try. I ordered the 72” one because it is my 72” standard level that I use everyday at work. This REDSTICK has 2 displays: a single, round LED screen on the broad side that takes the place of a standard bubble vial and another rectangular one on center along the top edge. Both displays are in color. The body is a heavy duty aluminum extrusion with removable rubber end caps. The level is powered by Milwaukee’s REDLITHIUM USB rechargeable battery tucked away under a plastic cover on the back of the level. It can recharged in place using the included charger and beautifully designed cord. The electronic module can be programmed to work like a standard box level and displays the level or plumb numerically. By repeatedly pressing the MODE button you can toggle the settlings through angle, %, inches/ft, mm/m. There are numerous adjustments for precision, tolerance, sensitivity, screen contrast/brightness, and audible alarm. You can also set what Milwaukee calls PINS to effortlessly repeat a specific setting. Maybe it’s because I have been in the trades for so long and I’m set in my ways, but I think I will be using this level almost exclusively like a standard level: to establish level and plumb lines. I cannot imagine I’ll ever need it to determine or set slopes or inches/ft. In the real carpentry world we generally use a framing or speed square for those purposes. I have been using this level to set both prehung doors and jambs since I got it. It’s also great for dead on accurate outside corners. The other main use for me is setting kitchen base and upper cabinets. For absolute accuracy this level cannot be beat. Milwaukee provides a beautiful, padded, heavy duty carrying/storage case. These are interior pockets to store the charger, cord, shoulder strap and Quick Start Guild. The full length closure flap is secured by Velcro. There is a built in carrying handle and a detachable shoulder strap. On the down side I think this level is a bit on the heavy side, especially when compared to traditional box levels. For horizontal surfaces, I thought the digital screen, centered on the top edge, was easy to read and perfectly placed. However, when using this 6 ft level to set plumb, I found that the single, center mounted digital “vial” was very inconvenient. For example, a standard 6 ft bubble level has 2 plumb vials; one located toward either end. When setting a jamb this places a vial right at eye level. With the MILWAUKEE, I had to bend over to read it. I also had great difficulty reading this level in bright sunlight, even with the contrast and brightness set to the highest level. I found myself reaching for my bubble levels for outside work in the sun. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this level. It is no doubt a beautiful instrument, dead on accurate, and appears to be extremely durable. The case is top notch as is the cord and charger. However, it’s weight, lack of multiple displays for plumb, display washout in bright sunshine, and $300.00 cost definitely makes this a luxury item that most carpenters can do without. The Digital REDSTICK comes with a 3 year accuracy and tool warranty. The battery is warranted for 2 years. It is made in China.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In time, the digital age will catch up with even the most-basic tools. There is a level (pun intended) of getting used to this implementation, as it is easier to accept a bubble that is slightly off than to deal with a number that shows exactly how much off-level the surface actually is. This beautifully-made tool comes with its own storage bag. Essential, I think, because I don't see myself abusing it like I do my old bubble level. The bag also provides a place to store the included USB charging cable and power adapter. By default it comes set to display in hundredths of a degree. I found it quite unnerving that the display, while set on a 'level' hard surface, at times fluctuated both up and down within its accuracy tolerance of .03, so that a reading of .24 degrees showed a reading from .21 to .27. Changing the accuracy to tenths, which is easily done, did not entirely remove this irritation, as the disply then fluctuated between .2 and .3. That said, once one has become used to working with the super-accuracy of this level, there's no going back.

Redstick Digital Box Level with Pin-Point Measurement Technology – Milwaukee Redstick spirit levels are at the top for premium quality levels both in accuracy and durability, which is why I wanted to try out the 72-inch digital level. I own 24” and 48” Empire digital levels that I primarily use for installing windows and occasionally cabinets. The Redstick digital model offers about the same digital options as many other brand digital levels, but it has improved graphics. Besides the normal settings for angle, pitch and grade and duplicating angles you can adjust the display contrast. The side display gives a numerical value and visual graphics to show the relationships for level and plumb. The top display gives the numerical value with an electronic bubble vial graphic. The Redstick has a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that is replaceable when it wears out; other brands - alkaline batteries. The Redstick level is expensive but comes with a 5-year warranty. One thing, I wish it had a couple of bubble vials for checking level and plumb. You don’t always need the electronics for a quick check of your work; because the level automatically shuts off after a few minutes, every time you grab it you need to turn it on and wait a few seconds to initialize. It doesn’t sound like a big deal but it is an inconvenience. Other brands include vials on their digital levels making them a little handier. Finally, the level comes with a nicely padded case to protect your investment. I don’t much like it. Other companies install a zipper that opens one end of the case and the level easily slides in or out. Milwaukee’s case has a flap that opens the full length and is secured with Velcro. Unless you lay the case on a flat surface or the ground, it’s clumsy to put the level into it and close it up. Because of the cost, I’m don’t see many homeowners or DIYers buying the 72” level to get 1/100th of a degree accuracy when a quality spirit level will give good results for a lot lower price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first heard about this product, I was a little worried. With any digital device you run the risk of it acting screwy from time to time. After using this, I see that my concerns were justified. Initially I used this like I do any product, that is how I determine it's usefulness, I determine how well it performs the way I expect it to perform. Once I saw that they did not work well, I read the manual and still had issues. My issues were: Tilt, the screen would say Tilt and then the display would go black a few seconds later. I read the manual and the Tilt message should appear once the level is tilted passed 30degrees, at that point it should shut off after 30 seconds I believe, for me the shut off happened after about 5 seconds. Another issue I had is while using it horizontally and pressing the level against a wall, the display would flip, so the numbers became inverse/ the numbers were upside down. This happened almost every time I placed the level against the wall. After this happened a few times I decided to just leave it alone and next time use my old fashioned level. Another issue is the charging, for this battery you have to insert it into the level and plug the usb cable into the level. I have another Milwaukee product that uses this battery and that one came with an adapter/case for you to put the battery in to charge it(REDLITHIUM USB Battery and Charger). That would be a lot simpler than plugging a cable into a 6ft level. This would benefit from having a bubble line, so that even if the display is not working you can still use it
