    Overview

    Model # 49-22-4006 Store SKU # 1000736935

The Milwaukee Ice Hardened Hole Saw Kit utilizes a proprietary cryogenic hardening process that improves upon the traditional heat treat processes. Unlike surface coatings that wear away, cryogenics harden to the core by minimizing soft metal (austenite) and creating more hard metal (martensite). The result is a product that is consistently hard throughout, resulting in life up to 50% longer than the competition.

    1. Ice hardened: cryogenically treated for up to 50% longer life
    1. Optimized tooth form for up to 2X faster cutting
    1. Wide angled and offset slots for easy plug access
    1. Bi-metal construction with 8% cobalt for increased wear resistance
    1. Includes: (5) hole saws: 3/4-inch; 7/8-inch; 1-inch; 1 1/8-inch; 1 1/2-inch; (1) twist-release arbour with pilot bit: 49-56-7010
    1. Includes: (1) additional pilot bit: 49-56-81; (1) 1/8-inch hex key; (1) adapter: 49-56-656

Hole saw itself worked well - I have only so far gone through 1/2" MDO. First time I used it the saw locked hard onto the shank. After a long time searching for advice to unstick it, and trying the only couple suggestions I could find regarding this specific style of shank, I finally thought to drip a little oil on the threading (duh). NO ONE HAD SUGGESTED THIS AND I DONT KNOW WHY. Maybe it was too obvious? Anyway, I set the shank tightly into the vice, put a screwdriver through the holes, and with a little elbow grease the shank loosened and unscrewed. The hole saw itself was still threaded over the washer so i locked the higher up hex part into the vice and with a little more effort the hole saw came off the threading. So a little all-in-one oil. a vice, and a screwdriver is how I recommend un-sticking these. I did thoroughly wipe the oil off the threading after unsticking it.

That said, the wood I was sawing was a hardwood. I had to switch from my cordless drill to my 1/2" electric because I needed the torque. The hole saw seemed to work pretty good with a little burning. The "Plug Jack", which is to provide an "all access slot design for fast plug removal" worked poorly. I had to remove the saw from the drill each time and remove the plug. However it did the job just without the ease I expected. I said I would recommend the product but mostly because the price was comparatively good.

Hole Dozer?---More like snoooozer; right out of the box these things bog, smoke & spin; anything but cut- I'm talking in 3/4 dry birch plywood. Taking a nap would be more productive; pulling teeth a pleasure.
