Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have multi tool I’ve been a long time Milwaukee fan and this multi tool does not disappoint. I’ve used it for just about cutting anything you could imagine. Makes cutting for electric boxes in shiplap a dream and drywall like cutting hot butter. If needed you can cut a 2x4 no problem. The trick to a quality cut for what your cutting is the blade quality, there expensive but worth every penny. If you buy cheap blades you will not like it. It can be a battery hog so have a few battery’s and a 4 amp hr battery is best for big jobs. It’s a bargain and the possibility’s are endless even cuts pvc and copper. Highly recommended this tool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery won’t stay in I bought an M12 Fuel set and this Multi-Tool on Friday. Saturday I got to my clients and brag about my new tools. I have to make one cut with the multi-tool and the battery kept coming out. I tried all three of my batteries. By the time I am done making my simple cut there are black shavings in the tool and on the batteries. Two of the batteries the latches had the plastic melted/stripped. I ended up using electrical tape to tape the dang battery on just so I could make one simple cut. So now I have two batteries compromised on my brand new set I didn’t even have for 24 hours. I returned the saw on Monday. Not too happy and it was pretty embarrassing in front of my client.

The Bosch and Dremel blades will work with this Milwaulkee M12 multi-tool head & also with the supplied adapter that comes with the multi tool....but I found putting the blade directly on the tools head is a tighter fit. also....when using the head you can put the blade on at 5 different angles to the tool, left, 45 to the left, straight up, 45 to the right & right, (with the supplied adapter it can only be used left, straight and to the right.) This I found nice as I was able to use more of the blades surface without the tool being at a weird angle while working, it's also able to get into tight areas with the different angles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge Flaw in Design - Battery Retention I have now had my hands on two of these from my local Home Depot. I don't typically leave reviews and Milwaukee normally has excellent tools so this needs to be brought to light. The battery retention on this device is a complete failure. During normal operation of cutting (in my case through mainly drywall), the battery will self eject and you have to turn it off and reinsert the battery to remain cutting. This is unacceptable and should have been caught in the R&D phase. Does this with all of my batteries and even faster with the bigger capacity (heavier) ones. Other than that the tool is acceptable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's hard to find a good Oscillator on a budget I started off with a Ryobi oscillator. In less than a minute, the cheap dial popped off! I tried to deal with that. Then the on/off switch got harder and harder over time. I returned it in the 30 day warranty and tried this Milwaukee. It's better and worse. The dial is integrated within the housing so that's good. The tool uses a smaller size battery which can be good. But the Ryobi had a quick-release blade and the Milwaukee not only requires a cumbersome Allen wrench, but apparently, there's no where to store it in the tool?? Takes much longer to load blades. If not for that, it would be 4 or 5 stars. But as it is, 3 stars .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Let me start by saying, in general, I love Milwaukee tools. That being said, I hate this tool to the point I almost stopped buying Milwaukee products altogether. It dains batteries crazy-fast, but the bigger issue is that the batteries constantly vibrate out. You then have to switch it off, reseat the battery, and restart the tool. Cuts that should take me a matter of seconds often take minutes because of this. Add a ladder or an awkward angle into the mix and this thing is next to useless. Often I end up using a chisel or other tool to finish a cut because of the sheer frustration involved in using this. Skip this one.

This hard to do, as the overall product is good, but the battery issue is really bad. The battery holds a charge fine, but what happens is the battery will fall off or come loose because the battery clip break really easy. You will have to use one hand to hold the battery with one had and the tool with the other to make it work. I would not recommend M12 products until they change the connection of the battery is fixed. I am almost at the point of taking my tools and selling them to the local Dewalt service center and buying Dewalt tools. What makes this even worse is that Milwaukee knows about the issue for a long time and still hasn't fixed the issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprising Performance I challenged the tool right out of the box to help me remove a stubborn outdoor deck bracket with hopelessly frozen mounting screws. As a long time owner of a contractor grade Fein Multi-master corded tool I was curious if this smaller cordless tool could handle this type of application. I mounted a well used Bosch carbide tip metal cutting blade from my Fein Toolbox and secured it for operation using the Milwaukee supplied adapter to fit most blades available from other similar tools. I was able to cleanly and quickly slice through the metal screws and remove the bracket without needing to drag out an extension cord. While the M12 is not for heavy duty use such as all day cutting jobs or those that require cutting heavy metal, this M12 tool is winner and a real value that belongs in DiYer's and homeowners toolboxes.

will it cut nails?

will it cut nails?
Asked by: Brutus
Yes, assuming the nails are small diameter and you use the appropriate blade. I don't make a habit of it though as the blades are expensive and don't last long if you cut nails. (A rotary tool with an abrasive cutoff disc is a better option.)

Is the power comparable to the corded oscillating tools or I'd need M18 version?
Asked by: Keen
I have 2 M12 batteries and have never encountered any issue! The freedom of movement in some awkward positions not dealing with a cord is most advantageous.

Can this cut through a 2 x 4

Asked by: Justin
It certainly could in a pinch, but it would NEVER be the tool of choice. I'd wager that if you tried it once, you wouldn't want to make a habit of it.

Can you cut off bolts with a metal blade?

I wouldn't. I would take awhile and you would go through that blade really quick.

Can this tool be used to cut electrical boxes cutouts in hollow cement block?

Asked by: Alex
I do not know of a blade available to do that. Even if you find one, the battery would not hold up to that kind of use. The 18 volt system would be more likely to fit the bill.

Does it come with a battery charger

Asked by: Anonymous
This tool, along with a host of other Milwaukee hand tools, is sold "Tool Only"! I have a collection of Milwaukee tools, both M12 and M8. Consequently, I have a charger that works for both and more than one of many of the batteries. This allows me to keep on working when one battery runs low. It is my preference to minimize the number of different chargers I have in my collection of battery operated tools and have been happy with all my Milwaukee brand.
