Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Circular Saw that I can take with me !!! I use this on maintenance jobs in the field and at home when I don't want to drag the corded saw out. I have used it to cut down doors to fit, cut trim work and cut through 1 inch of flooring between my kitchen and dining room (as seen in my pictures next to my daughter's curious cat). I am using the new M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion XC Extended Capacity 6.0Ah Battery Pack to power my saw through the toughest flooring and when I was done, I did not use up 1 red light of power. I am sold and a true believer forever on the M12 Fuel series line of brushless power tools. Thanks Milwaukee for these light weight and easy grip tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i love this saw i wanted a portable, battery powered circular saw. the power of this 12 volt saw is awesome. i already had m12 tools so it was a no-brainer. it doesn't work for everything, the blade is small but it cuts through 2-by material which is really the most i need it for. it does bog down if you push it at 45 degrees but otherwise is great. you will still most likely need a 7 1/4 saw for larger stuff, move is corded but this m12 saw is able to do 90% of what i need. i have a 6ah and have never come even close to running out of power. great to transport to a jobsite or to get material cut to size to fit in your car.i absolutely suggest this if you are invested in the m12 system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome saw for a home owner DIYer. Absolutely love this tool. That being said it does bog down on tougher stuff if you push a little to hard. I'm not a pro carpenter, I'm a mechanic and already had some milwaukee tools and batteries so I bought this saw for home projects. It's exactly what I need for projects at home and nothing more. Its size makes it a bit less intimidating too so my wife who isn't accustomed to power tools used it to make some shelfs. I think a pro could use it too but I cant speak to much on that. I use the 6.0 battery pack on this saw. I tried the 3.0 compact battery once but it overheated the battery pretty quickly. With the 6.0 I was able to cut up an old decrepit shed that was leaning on our fence with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light Weight and Powerful I wanted a light weight, battery operated, circular saw and drill to replace my aging corded circular saw and battery operated drill. I selected Milwaukee's 12 volt family of tools over 18 volt systems because of their light weight and compact size. I have not been disappointed with my choice. The M12 FUEL 5-3/8" Circular Saw with a 6 amp hour battery will run all day for my DYI projects. In fact, I used it to build a deck for my daughter and son-in-law and had no issues with it. It cut through 2 X lumber with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty good actually Was able to power through 3/4" plywood with a sharp blade and the old 1.3 Ah batteries from my drills. It can drain the small batteries very quickly, so consider getting the 4.0 XC if you plan to make lots of cuts through thick heavy material. The base and blade guard are made of nicely cast (as opposed to stamped) metal. Edges seem to run parallel with the blade. Was able to get nice rip cuts in 1x boards. Came with a pretty good carbide tipped 16-tooth "Framing" blade that does a good job cross cutting 2x lumber. Good for cutting scraps down to size. Overall: light, compact, and handy to have around especially if you already have the batteries.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Severely underpowered. Go for the m18 version. . I use this for cutting two by fours, 2 by 6 is. Plywood. Pretty much bogs down and stops when cutting regular Pine two by fours. Even using the XC m12 batteries on full charge, still stops and binds several times. I've used brand new saw blades of different brands, just to see if there is an improvement. I also own the fuel M18 cordless skill saw. And that saw has plenty of power and you can build a house with it, with ease. Unless you're cutting twigs, stay away from the M12 fuel skill saw. I own at least 30 Milwaukee corded, and cordless tools. This is the first cordless tool I was unsatisfied with. I'm a huge milwaukee fan. This saw just isn't at the same level of Milwaukees standards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from M12 Fuel Circular Saw 2530-20 Overall an awesome circular saw, best one I have used. It's lightweight is great for making cuts sideways or overhead, like trimming posts. It's battery has a long life, and will last even longer if you make cuts with a guide. The blade cutting area is very visible, and the LED light is also a great addition. While finding blades can be difficult due to its uncommon size, they are cheap. There are trim rated blades available. It does have noticeable lower power than a plugged tool, which the blade can stop when making freehand cuts. There is one design flaw, the arbor screw can be seized when the angle is adjusted past 45 deg (dial goes to 50 deg). The arbor head will grind into the shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! And incredibly light! This little saw is light as a feather. I see people complaining about it on forums but they are missing two really important things. 1) it performs better with a 4ah or better battery. 2) put a diablo saw blade on it! Every saw you ever buy will be junk if you don’t use a good blade. I’m sure the stock blade would be fine with the right battery but it cuts like butter with the diablo. It also lasts way longer than you’d expect a 12v circular saw to last. I have been through MAYBE 2 full battery cycles in over 2 weeks. I don’t use it a ton but it’s my go to for anything where the depth is appropriate.

Will this saw operate with the M12 REDLITHIUM 2.0 battery?

I know that you might not get very many cuts, but wondered if it was possible since I have several of the smaller batteries and would be using it for hobby work.
Asked by: Smokey
I only use this saw with 2.0 batteries. You have to change them out more often, but it works just fine. Keeps weight down and footprint smaller.

Can this be used to cut tile? If so what blade do I need?

Asked by: Speedo
I would not use this saw for tile...a wet tile saw is more suited to the task. I suppose if you found a masonry blade and had someone hold a hose to it as you cut it could work...but I would still use a regular tile saw

How shallow can you set the blade?

I'm trying to see if this saw might work for cutting holes for electrical work in drywall
Asked by: Samuel
The shoe retracts all the way from the full 1-5/8" to 0" depth, so you should be able to use it for that application. However, using a circular saw for cutting drywall will make a huge cloud of dust, and may dull the blade prematurely. Have you considered an oscillating tool, or a good old-fashioned razor knife with a straight edge?

This is per description, a 5-3/8 inch circular saw. I have not found a 5-3/8 inch replacement blade orther than the one you can order with the saw. Will a 5-1/2 in blade (which appears to be common) fit on this saw?
Asked by: JR
I haven't tried it but it makes sense to me. 5 1/2" blade is only 1/8" in diameter large meaning that the only interference points are only 1/16" closer to the blade (1/8" divided by 2 - distance from center of shaft [radius]). There seems to be at least that much room there. Get a 5 1/2" blade and install it on the saw. Without the battery in the machine, turn (spin) the blade to check for clearance. If it doesn't touch anything you should be good to go. If it touches, Remove the blade and return it to the store. I think that Milwaukee purposely made a marginally smaller blade in order to sell replacement blades. Can't see any other justification. Just be very careful with any steps you take. Good luck.
