Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Tool with exceptional Performance I do heavy diesel repairs & maintenance and got this tool because of it's weight and 'hyped up' capability. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. This impact punches way above its class and I am able to take off 10-20 year old rusted on bolts from equipment used in the North (CANADA). I do like the 3 speed modes and auto mode, have saved me a lot of stress from breaking bolts. That plus the compact size are the main reasons I go this and I'm more than happy with it. It does get scuffed up way too quickly for my liking, we'll see how long it lasts. My mobile repair tool bag is a lot lighter just from this one tool and the versatility of the M12 battery system.

I've looked at the posted instruction manual and don't see anywhere it mentions what the "1, 2, 3 and round arrow" buttons on the top of the tool do. What are they for? Milwaukee needs to improve their instructions.
Asked by: Mike
1, 2, and 3 are torque settings for how hard the impact hammers. Number 1 is light impact, #3 is hard impact. Setting #1 will barely tighten bolts of a part or lug nuts to a wheel but will run them in so you can make sure your part or wheel is seated. Setting #3 will torque bolts and lug nuts down hard

Is this tool powerful enough to remove lugnuts off of a ford 250?

Asked by: Ron
Yes, it has plenty of torque for lugnuts for being so lightweight! Use a deep socket with the tool for more direct impact to the nut rather than an extension and a socket which can absorb the force of the impact. You will be amazed!

Is the 1/2" M12 Stubby Impact Wrench more powerful than the 3/8" one in terms of torque?
Asked by: johnlittleman1
The 1/2" and the 3/8" are rated for the same amount of torque, 250 ft lbs. However you will some torque when an adapter is used to go from 3/8" to 1/2".

What would be the major differences between the 3/8" and 1/2" being they both have the same breaking strength? Any difference other than size of socket used?
Asked by: billjr
I think what is missing from these answers is the loss of applied torque due to difference in diameter sockets and extensions used. Both tools puts out the same 250 ft Lbs when measured at the anvil, for either size , 3/8” or 1/2”. Depending on the size of the diameter and length of the extensions and the sockets walls, their is a loss of torque due to flexing. which changes the actual torque value applied at the end point of the attachments attached to the tool. IE the fastener or bolt. 3/8” sockets and extensions flex more at longer lengths than 1/2” ones do due to their larger diameter and socket wall strength. So 1/2” is more efficient at transferring maximum torque values to the fasteners with less flexing. While 3/8” would be better in tight places where max torque is not requirement but agility is.

3/8 and 1/2 have the same torque ratings. Why choose one over another?

Asked by: NickName
My understanding is you would want the 1/2" if you plan to use this primarily for suspension and tire work...or just using meatier sockets for more stubborn bolts.
