The MILWAUKEE M18 Brushless Threaded Rod Cutter (2872-20) is a dedicated solution for cutting the most common threaded rod sizes on the job site. This includes coarse thread rod from 1/4-Inch, 3/8-Inch and 1/2-Inch mild steel to 1/4-Inch and 3/8-Inch stainless steel. The cordless threaded rod cutter is powered by the MILWAUKEE POWERSTATE Brushless Motor and delivers 400+ cuts while powered by an M18 REDLITHIUM 2.0Ah Battery. The four-sided cutting dies allow users to cut all sizes of threaded rod on one tool by simply rotating the dies. The all thread cutter has the clearest line of sight and delivers clean, burr-free cuts allowing nuts to be threaded on by hand without having to file down the ends. The tool features auto jaw opening allowing fast, repetitive cuts while a reverse button helps prevent unintended cuts. The tool's centered grip provides the best balance for one-handed overhead trims, while the flat horizontal design provides users with a stable surface for benchtop cuts.

Got for a job that had a lot of 3/8 rod and it worked well, soon as i figured out the best way to hold the tool/ rod to get the cleanest cut. No complaints. A few days ago had a few pieces of 1/2 rod to cut and figured I'd show off my new cool tool to a few buddies. Boy did i look like a fool! Wouldn't even put a mark in 1/2 rod..... i have a lot of red tools and all of them except for this one have been great. Hopefully milwaukee will step up and fix the issue, or at least not make false claims.

Does a quick clean cut on threaded rod. I Have had no issues with starting nuts or split rings. Tool is very quick when you have to cut a lot of threaded rod. Only reason I'm giving it four stars is due to its price, size and weight. It is very expensive to only be able to cut threaded rod. Also Definitely not something I would want to be working overhead with all day long. Other than that the tool is very useful if you have a use for it. I invested in it because I cut a lot of threaded rod but if you only need once in awhile I don't believe it would be worth the investment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is for the M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Threaded Rod Cutter (Tool-Only) When I first saw this I had my doubts about it being able to do what it says it can. I should have known better I guess coming from such a good tool brand, but still. How can something this compact cut rod this big including stainless steel. This is a heavy tool to begin with, and sure enough it cuts repeatedly without any issues at all. I was so tired of using a hack saw or my sawzall to cut steel. While this tool does not have the ergonomics of others in the M18 lineup, its a beast, and I highly recommend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for 1/2" rod. This tool can cut 3/8" and smaller with ease but when it comes to the big stuff a band saw would be quicker. It takes anywhere from 3-7 swings to get through 1/2". So if you cut mostly 1/2", this isn't a good investment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tool is perfect for cutting threaded rod from 1/4” to 1/2” with no problem. Easy to use. Make sure you have the right size cutter blade in place, place the rod in between the cutter blades and press the trigger. I did not have threaded rod so I used a 3/8” pin. I did not have other blades to see how easy it is to switch them out. I do wish that the tool came with the wrench to remove the blades. I do have one issue that the tool alone is very heavy, add the 18-volt battery it is like holding a cinder block.

I have tired 3 different dies and each one has done it. I don't know if its a flaw or not. Just as of right now its a tool that sits on a shelf
