Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerful little saw with some improvements needed Its very robust for its size, easy to forget it is a small saw, but it is small and performs big. I suppose being small will save some people from biting off more than they can handle. I used my new saw for 20 minutes, battery didn't indicate any loss of power, but after only 20 minutes it was filthy, coated in oil and sawdust. I know too much bar oil is better than too little, but its too messy, I think they REALLY need to adjust the amount, my gasser can be used all day and doesn't require a clean up, this saw requires a clean up, or it drips oil on what you place it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The future of tree work! We lost two 60 foot/18" diameter pines at the cottage this fall. I grew up working for an arborist and have used all types and sizes of gas chainsaws. I started with my gas chainsaw but quickly switched to the Milwaukee. For a few hours work this saw was lighter, quieter, easier to handle and cut just as well if not better. Didn't even have to replace batteries. I used a sawzall for some of the smaller branches which I'd never really done before and it worked great. Keep the guide area clean and your cuts straight and this saw will go all day. Definitely the future of tree work for me.(note that while you can see a gas chainsaw in one picture, it got used for less than 5 minutes!)

Spent 4hrs limbing trees (probably solid hour of cutting) and showed no sign of getting tired. Much lighter than comparable size gas model. Should have bought one of these 40 years ago.

Love it for when I’m cutting firewood and the limbs you missed while bucking you can easily remove while loading it into your truck or onto a trailer. Beats having to drop everything and having to pull start the gas saw again. It’s Quick and fast. Saves TIME. Very rare i go for a ride without it. Even opened a Hwy that was blocked by windfall trees and the people who watched and helped remove the trees wanted one right away! Really feels built well. I liked it so much I bought a bigger saw from Milwaukee and love it too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more pollution!! No more noise!! Easy to use! I've had this product for over a month now, I've downed a 14" maple with it and it never complained. My wife loves using it, she's able to start it very easily as she says. The only complaint I would say is that it is a little heavier than my Stihl MS170, it does have a 16" blade over the 14" from the Stihl though. Also, be careful when you force it like you can with a gas chainsaw. The battery will go in protection mode and you need to charge it to get it out, at least that is how I did it. I had only used it for about 10 minutes and the battery was at 3 bars when it happened. I did have other 9A batteries as backup though, so it was no big deal. I love Milwaukee products and this was the last one to get for my outdoor tools from Milwaukee.

Was really happy with its initial performance, but after storing the unit for a few months, I found my chainsaw to be covered in bar oil. I took my chainsaw in for warranty repairs twice, at an authorized repair shop, and after both times the saw still leaked. Finally, after all the frustration, I decided to email Milwaukee to ask for a replacement since it seems my current unit is defective--but haven't heard from anyone on their end. I am a fan of Milwaukee power tools since I use their drills, porta-bands, reciprocating saws, impacts, etc., but I cannot recommend this tool. Save yourself the headache and time and get something that won't leak and make a mess of your workshop and interior of your vehicle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great tool for tarnishing Milwaukee's reputation Had this less than 2 years, took down maybe 15-20 small trees in that time. I went to use it yesterday and it literally would not operate at all. Tried different batteries, nothing. I opened it up and could not see anything obviously wrong. I assume it’s an electrical problem. I researched the issue online and found a ton of people that bought this chainsaw only to have the same problem, could not find any solutions or fixes so it’s basically a paperweight now. It’s a shame, I only buy Milwaukee and I’ve always been impressed, never had any issues with any of their products until now. I can not recommend this product.

Works great, but leaks oil everywhere when off, called customer support to learn I have to empty the oil tank before putting saw away every time, otherwise it empties itself on the floor and/or inside de casing if on uneven surface. Not having been made for emptying the chain oil tank through where it is filled, you are sure to make a mess each and every time! Should be mentionned before sale.

Can I use a 3.0ah M18 Fuel battery from my cordless drill in the chainsaw? I see that it says it uses a 12.0ah, but wondering if the 3.0ah will do.
