Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised by the weight to power ratio My M12 drill/driver was under powered to drill 1" holes through 8x8s so I bought the M18. What a difference. I accidentally hit a knot in the timber and the M18 twisted the bit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tools For The Buck. This is by far the most powerful, compact, and lightweight, all while being robust and comfortable to use hammer drill that I have ever put my mitts on. This is my second Milwaukee tool after purchasing the M18 Fuel Surge and falling in love with that I had to have the hammer drill, and I am not disappointed. After using just one of Milwaukee's M18 Fuel tools I am completely converting to this line, 3/8" Fuel Impact is ordered and on it's way now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Think about it, before buying I use it for Art Installation, and Furniture Assembly, and was very happy with the old model, mechanical torque adjustment. Now comes with electronic torque adjustment. The lowest adjustment is to hard to screw drywall anchors to the drywall sheets, and also to screw some hardware to wood or similar materials of flat delivered furniture; so now my finger in the trigger is the new torque adjustment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend and would purchase again! I am the warehouse mgr of a large mechanical and electrical contractor and we have hundreds of M18 fuel hammer drill\driver in our fleet. They are dependable, long lasting and rugged enough to keep up with everyday wear and tear of our trades.

Is the speed selector switch supposed to be hard to push? Mine seems a little tough to toggle back and forth...

Just wondering if it’s typical on the m18 hammer drill/driver. Not a deal breaker for me, just wasnt expecting it to be so stiff.

Is this overkill for homeowner/DIY use? I'm debating b/w this, the M12 Fuel Hammer Drill/Driver ($99) and the Makita Subcompact ($89). On one hand, those are both cheaper options, but on the other hand, if I'm going to buy one drill and keep it for a decade+, am I not better off spending that extra ~$50 on a drill that'll be able to tackle any/all potential future jobs? Also, if I'm going to get into one of those three battery platforms, it seems like the M18 has the best variety/quality options (Makita is similar). I do like the size of the Makita Subcompact and I imagine it will do nearly everything I'd ever need, but again, same issue. Thanks.

The m18 hammer drill is rather nice. The handle helps with stability so you dont have much wobble. But it can work with everything from wood working to concrete and more. Being able to use the same battery for my drill as my chainsaw is a major bonus. So far the m18 set hasnt given me any issues at all.
