[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Impregnator Sealer (511). Used this sealer on tile and grout. It did not change the color or surface appearance of the tile/grout. Water based so not much smell. Used this sealer on a new backsplash and applied it to the tile before and after grouting. We used a small sponge to apply and a cloth to remove the excess. Apply enough to make surface wet. Our installer suggested we reseal the tile every 2-3 years, but most likely we'll do just the area behind the stove. The backsplash gets spotted when cooking sauces on the stove and they are easily removed with a wet cloth.

After a few days the grout turned yellow! May work with other colors but do not apply to white grout. I can clearly tell that this product was at fault because I forgot to grout the bottom section and it is white like the tile.

My method of applying it is to use a paint brush (usually one that is 1.5” wide by about 3/8” thick). The grout line is 1/8” wide. As I apply it, we have about an eight-inch overlap on each side of the joint. I usually cover about 60 square feet of tile, and then go back with a clean cloth and rub down the entire surface. This spreads a thin coat over the entire surface. Let it cure a day, and repeat. As far as I can tell, it does a good job. I was talking to a friend one time about sealants, and he thought the sealant was just to prevent the grout from taking on a stain. However, grout remains water soluble until sealed, so this would be the main purpose of the sealer. I noticed a slight difference in the “gloss” the finish had. I prefer if it remained “flat”, but dried more like a “satin”. My wife likes the satin finish.

If this version creates less fumes than the other Impregnator Sealer than I wouldn't want to experience anything else. But, fumes aside, it goes on easy and is easy to work with. I'm currently on hour 48 of curing, so I'll know how well it works shortly I suppose.

Bought it primarily for door porceline tile grout. I applied to tile and grout. Not sure if it soaked into tile but it dried in a few hours. My biggest complaint is the curing time which is 72 hours. There is a range up to 72 hours but no information telling how to tell when it is cured. It appeared dry after 2-3 hours. We delayed putting anything on the floor until the 72 hours but as we had furniture all over the house waiting to go back on the floor so frustrating to wait that long to get our house back together. Other than that there was no apparent residue on the tile or grout. We have steam mopped it a few times and the floor retains it's new appearance. Good product if you can wait the cure time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 511 Water Base Impregnator did a great job of sealing my bathroom tiles. They are porous and were difficult to clean from moisture settling into them. Sealants did not last very long. I found this to be a very effective product and easy to use because it is water based. I will use it in other areas that are prone to moisture and traffic and to protect the countertops as well. It does take 48 hours to cure before applying a second coat but the effort is worth it for a more durable result.

Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Water Base 511 Impregnator can be applied to bluestone, on a tub deck and vanity countertop. 511 is a penetrating sealer, apply as directed on the label allowing the sealer to remain on the surface for 3-5 minutes. After this time wipe up all excess sealer with a clean towel, do not allow the solution to dry on the surface. Due to the differences of each substrate, several inconspicuous test patches should be completed to assure maximum performance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

It works best to be put on a applicator and spread Even Wait 3 minutes take off the excess and keep going after 5 minutes there should not be any wet looking spots. It forms a protective layer below the surface not sitting on top. And if polishing stone, polish the stone first then add the product because whatever it looks like before is the way it's going to look after it's just well protected. Do not use a 2 gallon pump sprayer it will clog it up

Yes ,all their product is designed for stone , works well with tavertine as long as you follow the instructions on the bottle. Kennedy maintenance and cleaning has been using this product our clients, and we get five stars all the time. I like the way it doesn't change the way the stone looks and keeps the stone and grout protected.
