Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great experience and works well (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Received this skillet as a gift from Napoleon which was very nice of them. Followed the cleaning and seasoning instructions as provided on the package. We have used it to make Fajitas on and as well fry up vegetables for sides. It holds its heat very well and cooks items quickly and keeps the flavour. The removable handle is a good thought in the construction of the skillet. Also the serving tray is a bonus as your food retains its heat while serving. Looking forward to receiving more products for testing and reviewing. I would recommend this product to anyone who uses their gas grill a lot or uses a gas range cook top as we have used it on that as well.

At first glace the skillet is well made and the detachable handle is a good idea if you want to use the skillet in the oven or bbq. Now for the less good part, the skillet is quite small in size and me having a big family I don't see myself cooking anything in it. But, it makes a very cute serving plate when you receive guests. Overall this skillet may be useful some less big households, but I did not see any possible usage for mine.

Had to do the traditional sizzling fajita for the wife. Absolutely amazing I used it as a serving dish putting it into the oven and heating it up. Held heat for quite some time easily kept food warm the entire meal. Loved hearing that sizzle. Also served a seafood scampi and same great performance. Like the barbecues that made them famous Napoleon makes amazing accessories too this one included.

Full disclosure, I received this product for free for testing purposes. Seasoned up the skillet and made a quick pizza on the barbecue. Skillet preformed as expected for high quality cast iron product. However the removable handle is life changing. So much space saving compared to a traditional skillet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing skillet makes me look good! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Recently, the good people at Napoleon sent me a Cast Iron Skillet 560003 to review and I jumped at the chance. First- having grown up with wood burning stoves, I was happy to see the removable handle on the skillet. The biggest problem with cooking on cast iron is having a pan too hot too handle. This makes it comfortable to work with and combined with the plastic stand, makes an incredible presentation. My first attempt to season the pan failed- I used avocado oil and baked it for about an hour but it was clearly not enough heat or time. Re oiling the pan and giving it a little more time at around 450f solved that problem. My first dish to cook given the qualities of the pan was seared scallops. (The best part of new grilling toys is the new food you get to try!) Once the pan got to the “smoke point” I placed the scallops down and got the perfect sear I was looking for in a couple of minutes, flipped them, made a butter garlic sauce in the same pan and presented it for my family better than most restaurants. I’m definitely buying more of these for fajita night! - The wow factor is off the charts!

As soon as I unboxed it I was extremely impressed with how heavy/sturdy it was for a small little skillet (it's oval-shaped, measuring 7" X 10"). It comes with a slick base to rest the hot skillet when done cooking. The skillet and base look really sharp. Before using it the first time they recommend washing it with a mild soap, drying it and then applying a thin layer of cooking oil and putting it in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour and then letting it cool. Which I did. It did, however leave a brown tinge that I cannot remove. I am presuming this is normal with cast iron. I finally used it today to cook some asparagus. The heat was well retained and it quickly cooked the asparagus. I have to admit, the size is a little small. It may not be sufficient for a family of 4. But the sizzle coming off the barbecue and onto the resting base and on the kitchen table was quite impressive ... like at a Mexican restaurant serving fajitas! The cleanup was also quite easy and quick. A small suggestion... it would be a nice touch if Napoleon could provide some quick recipes that could come with the skillet.

I got the cast iron skillet for free from Napoleon for testing purposes. Overall this is very good product, easy to season before first use and very easy to clean. Was awsome for the fajitas veggies and meat. Just warm up the skillet the the BBQ, cook the meat and veggies on it or use it as a hot serving plate. The serving tray works really well. The handle is removable which avoids burning yourself on a hot handle. I am thinking of purchasing a second one for a family meal for 4 people. The only downside is the handle. The remvovable handle is great while the skillet is on the serving tray, it can be remved when skillet is set on the table. As the skillet is oval shaped and very hot when in the BBQ it can be heavy to take out of the BBQ. As the handle is removable I would suggest it be either wider or covered with rubber for a better grip. the handle is not used in the BBQ. I deffinately would recommande this product to everyone. There are so many option on how to use the skillet, BBQ or even in the oven.
