Uses rocker switches to operate both the light and the motor. For those who are going to use it for internal exhaust PLEASE NOTE THAT CHARCOAL FILTERS ARE NOT INCLUDED AND THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. Typically in $40 range and have to be changed frequently if you cook a lot. (NuTone - please take a note, they should cost $10 at most). So please take this in consideration if you're planning to use it in internal/re-circulation mode. Pro: very clean and modern design, 2 powerful motors. Bright LED lights - nice! One person can install it without help. Con: 1. Internal design is very flimsy. Very hard to locate holes for screws, took long time to put together. Sheetmetal inside is very flimsy, no wonder it makes a lot of noise and vibration on high speed. 2. No VISUAL indication whether the fan is turned on. It has only two positions: low and high. Low is very quiet and you can't tell that it's working unless you put a hand to the exhaust. One would think it's a good thing but with rocker switch it's hard to tell whether it's turned on and many times I found that the fan was actually turned on a day or two later! (NuTone - please add a digital/light indication of on/off.)

The Amanda Convertible Range Hood in Stainless Steel is absolutely beautiful! The light is very bright and the blower has two speed settings. It runs smoothly and quietly on low speed. However, the high speed is very loud and sounds like a strong engine. That is the only drawback. Installation is straight forward and it comes with clear instructions but it is heavy. It does help to have one person holding it if someone is underneath it, especially if you are working in a small area. It comes witht everything you need for either ducted or non-ducted installation. For non-ducted installation, you have to buy two filters. I really like this range hood but will only use the blower on low speed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

It has a very good air flow/suction. Not all range hoods have the option to duct them to the outside or run at recirculation, but this one does. At the moment I'm running it on recirc, but will eventually change it to ducted, just need to find some time to do it. As stated in other reviews, it is a bit annoying that one first has to disassemble the hood to get to the manual and some parts hidden inside. Make sure you have a good look inside not to miss any of the blue shipping tape, that has to be removed. The whole 1 person EZ-install is a joke, get a second set of hands. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ananda 30 in. Convertible Range Hood in Stainless Steel Is a remarkably beautiful addition to any kitchen. This stainless steel deep hood has two high power fans that move an amazing amount of air. A dishwasher safe grease filter that covers the fullwidth and depth of the unit. And two very bright led light units underneath the unit. This unit is quality built welds clean edging rolled etc. Unfortunately this unit is a diy nightmare. Starting from the moment of unpacking the unit. The foam surrounding the stainless marked the finish and took a great deal of elbow grease to clean off. Then I found myself disassembling a third of the internal framing and coverings just to get to the instructions hardware and parts need to install. It came with a one man installation system that could easily be replaced by an extra hand which is needed to hang the unit. I found the standard installation instructions to work more efficiently. The four included screws and hardware to connect hood to underside of cabinet were a challenge all of their own. The two in the rear not too difficult to install the two in front has all kinds of obstacles in the way to easily install. Then came the reconstruction of all the interior parts that had to be removed in the unpacking. Gravity is not your friend. The unit is advertised as a duct or ductless install. I would just assume all the parts necessary for ductless install would be included. They were not and to make matters worse you have to buy the charcoal filters and holding clips separate to the tune of 35/45 dollars. So units installed electric connected power on the breaker and an annoying buzz is supplied by the enclosed transformer. And the transformer is always powered on due to the hardwiring of the power. So in summary I and my brother in law spent three hours installing the beautiful unit just to find ourselves being annoyed by a constant buzz while scanning the internet trying to find the rest of the parts needed to make this unit function as a ductless installed range hood. Got this range hood to upgrade from an older range hood that's been in our kitchen since our house was built. This range hood is modern and stylish. The two LED lights are extremely bright and the two speed exhaust fan is powerful. The installation was a little cumbersome and time consuming. It was not a one person installation as advertised. Had to practically disassemble the hood before installing which also meant I had to reinstall everything after mounting which wasn't easy. The hood is kinda heavy so you will need a helper. The quality of the unit is clear. The switches are sturdy, attractive and easy to operate. The hood has two small LEDs that put out good light and do a good job illuminating the work surface. The 2 built-in fans move a lot of air. Together the fans are rated at 400 CFM on high (enough to turn over the air in a 20 x 20 kitchen with 8 foot ceilings every 8 minutes). With the fans on low (120 CFM) the unit is quiet. It is a bit louder on high but isn't much of a distraction - most of the noise comes from the air moving and not the fan motors. One minor critique I would make is related to packaging. You have to partially disassemble the unit to get at the instructions. I would prefer they were attached to the outside of the range hood and easily located when you remove the unit from the box. Installation took about an hour. The fans cover the top of the unit and you have to remove the fan cover to get at the wiring and mounting points. This added a few minutes but once you get it all done, the quality of the unit is clear and well worth the effort. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

As others have stated, the assembly process is cumbersome due in part to the manufacturers effort to protect the item during transit AND keep the packaging size as remotely small as possible. This adds a relatively great amount of effort in the "un-packaging & preparation" process of the completed install. The end result is worth is for the value of this hood.
