Rated 1 out of 5 by from A nightmare to use I thought I'd try this for a shed and was not impressed. The nails recommended by the manufacturer actually tear thru the product. If using, I suggest don't use the nails and use long screws with sealing washers. also have a roll of black duct tape and leak seal spray. No matter how careful you are, a hole will rip somewhere around a screw or nail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from life span I like the ease with which Ondura panels are installed. My only reservation is the painted coating life span. On my south facing roof it needs to be recoated every 6 or 7 years. North facing roof needs it about every 10 years. As long as one can keep the roof material painted, it should last over 20 years. I recently had a section of my roof redone with new roofing panels after 30 years. The material was brittle and literally falling apart, still not bad after such a long time. My house on the Carolina coast, has been through a number of powerful hurricanes and never lost the roofing except for a piece of cap. My neighbors with standard shingle roofing always loose shingles. I have always insisted on the stainless steel fasteners for my roof. Galvanized coated rust here on the coast.

Could this product be used for a raised bed garden. Also what is the materiel made from....is it metal, or mixed wood/plastizicers?

    Asked by: JGCL
Hello JGCL, thank you for your interest in Ondura panels. Ondura is an asphalt cellulose fiber composition. These panels can be installed to any structure with the proper pitch and support. These panels are not food grade and haven't been tested in this application. Tuftex panels are plastic panels and have been used by customers in a raised garden bed. Hi, I'm wanting to use this product to make garden boxes. are the sheet very rigid, and will they stand up well to light abuse?

    Asked by: Kinger
This is roofing material. I currently have this on my shed and the old owners of my home had it on the house roof for 20 years. Its durable but will fade, must paint every few years.

I am considering using these panels for a basement ceiling. Are they suitable for indoor use?

    Asked by: Shrek
Hi Shrek, Thank you for your interest in Ondura products! While Ondura can be used as a basement ceiling, it is heavy and will need additional fasteners. We have another option available. Onduline also manufactures Tuftex panels, these are corrugated plastic panels and one of their many uses is basement and garage ceilings. I'm considering using this product instead of galvanized metal version for cottage shower stall walls. Can an adhesive be used with this material? I'm assuming it holds up to below freezing temperatures?

    Asked by: jody16
Hi Jody16, thank you for your interest in Ondura panels. Ondura can be used in this application but you will need to paint the back side of the panel with any high quality exterior latex paint. These panels cannot be installed with adhesive, they must be fastened with screws or nails to support that is at least 24"oc. Because this is an asphalt panel it is not the best panel for this type of project. The best panel for this project is Tuftex PolyCarb in translucent white, you can see shadows through this panel. For project specific information or more details please contact our customer service department at 1-540-898-7000 opt.2 M-F 8a-5pm EST.

What fasteners are used with this product?

    Asked by: Greg
Hi Greg, thank you for your inquiry! There are 2 options for fasteners for these panels. Ondura nails (3" or 4") can be used or the Ondura 3" hex head screws. Either fastener is sufficient however the screws tend to give customers an easier, faster installation and they are easier to remove should the need arise. Hi, My roof is 11 ft long and a sheet is roughly 6 and 1/2 feet long. Can these sheets be cut? If so, what would be the best tool? Skill saw? Thanks!!

    Asked by: Dave
Hi Dave, thank you for your inquiry! Ondura panels are very easy to cut. Use a utility knife with a sharp blade for cutting parallel with corrugations, or a circular saw with a carbide-tipped blade for cutting across corrugations. Always wear eye protection when cutting. For project specific questions or for additional information please call our customer service department at 1-800-777-7663 M-F 8a-5p Est.
