Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Solution I do not like the look of synthetic vinyl plank floors attempting to mimic wood. I also did not want real hardwood as I have two young boys at home so I needed something more durable. This is the best of both worlds. It looks like real hardwood because it is and yet its durable and maintenance free. Installed over 1000 sq ft and install was quite simple. Very nice product to work with and happy with finished product. Need a rubber mallet for ends and need a tapping block and regular hammer to tap pieces together on the sides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful floor , easy to install We were looking for a wood floor for my kitchen. I saw the Opti-Wood Banff color floor and it was the color and style I wanted, but was most excited that this real wood floor was also waterproof, ideal for use in a kitchen. The locking design with the pad already attached makes it easy to install, with no added glue needed to do the job. The floor looks great just what we needed.

How does this flooring respond to UV light? How long does it take to "age in". Can it be glued down or does it have to be a floating installation?

Asked by: kate
Direct sunlight can effect the color of a wood floor over time. It is recommended that curtains be used to protect the floor from extended periods of direct sunlight. This will minimize any color change in the floor.

I've seen with most floating floors it says to not put heavy cabinetry or such on it. What does that mean for refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer, etc.?

Asked by: Forrest
The recommendation against installing under heavy cabinetry is to avoid any issue with restricting the small amount of movement that may occur with seasonal changes. Appliances do not weigh enough to restrict movement. Optiwood can be installed under appliances with no expected problems from the weight of the appliance.

Is this OptiWood product photosensitive? Beautiful flooring, I would like to put it in most of our house, including by a patio door where we get quite a bit of sunlight.

Asked by: Brenda
Wood flooring can change in color if exposed to excess sunlight. It is better to close a curtains to protect the floor during extended times that the floor would be exposed to excess sunlight.
