Is this safe to use for building a solar pool water heater? Roughly: put the tubing into the sunshine, run pool water through via a submersible pump and back into the pool. Is the material safe to direct the water back into the pool?

We're not experts in solar pool heating but in our experience this tubing is too small for this application. We've seen 3/4" black poly pipe used very effectively often wound in a circular spiral pattern. The 1/4" tubing doesn't have much surface area to absorb the sun and very little flow as well.

What is the actual inside diameter and outside diameter? They can't be the same, which is what the description suggests.

It's the I.D. that's 1/4" - the O.D. is not much larger as the walls are fairly thin. All the fittings are made to attach by barbed tubes that fit into the tube and are measured at a 1/4" inch as well.

What do I need to connect this hose to a garden hose faucet, then to one or more of the other irrigation kits?

There is an adapter sold in Home Depot stores as SKU 1001489459 that connects this pipe to hose faucets. It's new for 2020 and should be in most stores. https://www.homedepot.ca/product/orbit-faucet-x-1-4-drip-lock-adapter/1001489459?searchterm=1001489459 Another version is SKU 1000185340 which does the same job. I can't figure out from your descriptions which tubing is to go between sections of . . . .

soaker hose. I want tubing that does not leak water for spaces between raised beds.
