Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! Install takes more than is suggested. This product is an excellent buy - easily the highest value\quality per dollar of anything we looked at. In fact, the whole kit was less money than the door and fixed panel alone from other makers, and a base would be on top of that cost. I was concerned about the base flexing and cracking, having read that about other products. The base from this kit is VERY robust, and being set into mortar, I'm sure it will last my lifetime...or close enough. The only hassles I had were drilling the porcelain tile - not Ove's fault at all, but I wish SOMEONE had told me that drilling that tile is akin to drilling a diamond - and a couple of slightly unclear or ambiguous directions in the manual. The manual also suggests that this install can be done in an hour, which is ridiculous on its face. It takes what it takes, and you would have to have installed a few of them to get your time down to anything resembling an hour. Not to mention a drilling project akin to drilling through hardened steel tank armour in my case. The customer support was fantastic, and either answered my question immediately, or directly after speaking to an engineer at Ove. The callback time was under an hour. EXCELLENT support, Ove - take a bow. Now is where Ove needs to quit reading, though. I did a couple of things to make my life easier (and the installation even feasible) that Ove would probably not approve. They have liability issues - I don't. I'm merely relating my experience. - Because of the age of the house, there was not the space between the tiles that the product needed, and this was solved by trimming the overhead bar by an inch. I could see no reason why that wouldn't work, and I had a friend with an engineering background and a phenomenal amount of experience and expertise look at it. He said nothing would change if the bar wasn't its full length as shipped. We were both right. It worked flawlessly. - The porcelain tiles I mentioned? Well, there were also a few glass ones as an accent strip that were easier to drill than the porcelain, and if you have any experience with drilling glass, you will know what a statement that is. The porcelain was burning out one 1\8" purpose-built-from-German-steel bit made for tile & glass per pilot hole, and one 5\16" bit every two holes, which were then big enough for the anchors. I drilled enough holes to mount the overhead support pieces, but the vertical pieces I attached with silicone sealer. They bear no weight, and silicone is far stronger than the minimum required to hold them in place. Also, you can remove these pieces if needed, and reattach them. Not so if you have screw holes. Again, though...I have grave doubts that any adhesive would be sufficient to hold the weight of the overhead support and the glass, so I persevered and drilled those 4. All I can say is that these two mod's worked like a dream for me. Don't try them if you're not confident about the process....but, in that case, you might not be the best person to tackle a somewhat exacting project. It's not absurdly difficult, but precision is required. Oh yeah. Due to space constraints, the door had to be installed "the wrong way." ie....the shower head faces into gap between the door and fixed panel, instead of bypassing it as the manual says. Unavoidable without major modifications to the room itself, but it has leaked exactly once, and it was no more than a teaspoon. More than satisfied with that outcome! All in all, a GREAT investment!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful shower for a great price Bought this for our new condo that needed some updating. This was the best price out there. Installation was easy, and the instructions are really well written and clear. Nice that it fits a standard drain, just don't forget to grab it when you grab the shower! Doors seem sturdy enough. Looks expensive on a budget. Overall, happy with our purchase. Also, the company is extremely quick to respond to any questions you have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, solid doors I love the heavy doors - although you need two people to lift, the heavy glass is quiet and sturdy when rolling, which was an important feature to me. The base does squeak (not as much as cheaper styrofoam brands) but that was my fault for thinking we could get away without using a mortar layer beneath, as the instructions recommended. And you will need a lot of silicone to ensure no leaks. Installing this in an older bathroom (earlier than 2005) meant a lot of stud shaving - not a simple install but if you're prepared for the extra steps than this is a beautiful replacement for an old tub.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ove shower We brought this to our house (it was very heavy) and then found out it was a return. There was a piece bent, one scratched and the manual inside the box was for another corner shower (completely different).. We are happy with the shower itself, but very disappointed that it was scratched and bent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good versatility and reasonable cost I like the cost for a base and glass door system for a bath tub retrofit like the OVE Elvina. A door system from my local glass supplier is really expensive. I like that the base can be either a left hand or right hand model. I also like the drain cover so you do not have to look down a drain hole. I use mortar when I install shower bases to provide added support and prevent some issues I have seen in reviews where the base fails after a period due to base movement. Proper installation ensures long term reliable use.

Can anyone please recommend a drain that would work with this?

Asked by: JacquieO
Simply flag down someone in the plumbing dept. and ask them to hand you what you need. I got everything I needed in one aisle for about $30, in about a minute and a half.
