Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid product This product worked great for the insulation work i needed done. It cut very easily with a fillet knife, and never had any small particles flying around while cutting. It is very solid and can be walked on with easy and works very well with construction adhesives ( PL brand). For the cost and its uses, I would say this is a very good product for sealing cantilevers and over hangs

can this product be used on basement cement floor

Asked by: Anonymous
Typically this product would be used under the slab, however there is nothing stopping you from using this product on the cement floor. This product has a compression strength of 20PSI and is R5/inch. It's certainly possible to install a layer of rigid foam on top of a concrete slab, followed by a layer of plywood. People do it all the time when they remodel their basement. If you decide to go this route, pay attention to the continuity of your thermal insulation at the perimeter of your house, where the floor foam meets the walls. Otherwise you'll end up with thermal bridging at this critical location.

Can i use the rigid foam on wall on the main floor ouside walls instead of fibreglass bundles?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, you can use the rigid Foamular board on the outside of walls instead of putting fibreglass batts in the wall cavity, assuming you use the correct R Value according to the building code in your given location. Often, people use a mixture of both batts in the stud cavity and Foamular on the outside of walls to insulate their home.

What R-value, or thickness of ridgid foam is needed to encapsulate my crawlspace?

Will be used on foundation walls
Asked by: bradacs12
Foamular XPS is R5 per inch. Building codes differ from one location to the next. You will need to understand what the code is for your location to accurately answer your question and properly insulate to code.

Building a basement subfloor with Foamular

Hi, I would like to build a subfloor over my concrete basement floor using Foamular insulation and OSB panels over it. In an answer of a previous question, "owencorning123" spoke about a technical bulletin on how to do it. Can somebody tell me where this document is ? Thank you
Asked by: Anonymous
Foamular can be used as an insulation board on concrete floors by laying a 2x4 flat (sleeper) and placing 1-1/2" thick foamular C200 or higher between the boards, covering the floor with a 4-6 poly as the vapor retarder, and placing 3/4" plywood over the entire surface before installing the final flooring. Before this is started however, the floor must be dry.
