Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best I have found I have tried others, but these are the best rafter vents to my mind. They are thick enough that they will put up with a lot of bashing around - which is important if you are retro-fitting them through the soffits into an existing attic structure. The other brands were thinner and more prone to cracking under any pressure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very flexible. There are better options. The end flap is not very bendable, because of the creased design. If you try to bend it at too large of an angle, the whole vent will just crack everywhere. These were not usable for my application. If you watch the ProCat video for these, they only bend them at a very small angle. Most attic soffits require a much larger bend. Not worth the cost at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attic baffle project I used it for several spots in my attic that were missing a baffle. Installation of course is a challenge as all attic work is difficult. But I was able to get them started in place. The material is light and breaks easy. That can be a benefit as much as a curse for attic work.

How many are in a package?

I have an attic that is a very large space. I use it for storage. How many are in a package, and do I need to do the whole ceiling part of the attic?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Home Depot sells Raft R Mates in increments of 2's. If you have a finished Attic, you will need to extend the vents to the peak of the roof. If you have an unfinished Attic you will need to ensure the vent reaches above the insulation to provide free flow of air. For more information please contact 1-800-getpink.

when installing the baffles up the rafter space, are you supposed to overlap them? of do they butt up to one another?

Asked by: hunter88
Hi, when I installed them I overlapped them. I do not know the building code in your area, there could be a minimum overlap. Also, I started at the top of the peak at the continuous roof vent thinking that if there were any moisture dripping from the vent into the space it would run continuously to the soffit vent. I hope this helps. It's a great product and easy to work with. Remember to account for the space that this baffle takes up as you will need about an inch of less space for insulation. Good luck with your job! Mark

Why does the installation manual say "Use coated roof staples ( 3 ∕ 8 max.)"? Coated with what? Galvanized? Why? And why the maximum length of staple? Thanks!

Asked by: Noland
Hi Noland, you will want to use coated or galvanized staples because there is always the potential for slight condensation on the underside of the roof deck, especially for metal. The maximum length is to prevent the staples from going through the roof deck above. Thank you for your inquiry!

can you spray foam over them?

Asked by: Anonymous
This is not recommended.

How on earth are you supposed to fasten these? Even with a bog standard stapler and 3/8” staples, the staples are blowing through the foam every single time, making attachment impossible. Can’t find any info on the Owen’s-Corning website.

Asked by: andyw
Hello andyw, the Raft-R-Mates have successfully been installed using a standard hand stapler with 3/8” staples/1/2” crown, usually T50 staples. Thank you for your inquiry!

I have a cathedral ceiling with a continuous ridge vent and the roof peak. The pitch is 12/12. There will be space above the R40 insulation. Do I need to run these vents from the soffit to the peak in between all the rafters?

Asked by: LakeHouseProject
At the minimum you should use this product for cathedral ceilings. Start at the top and step your way down to the soffit. This does two things. It prevents under high wind loads fluffing the insulation into the Air cavity and if there's any leaks (in the product zone) it will channel the water to drip out through the soffit and not saturate the insulation causing other problems.
