Highly recommend! manufacturer, if you see this, please make a hood or directional vent lid, to put on top to direct the air 45° away from the wall, vs shooting hit air straight up. Cant mount anything above the fireplace which is a huge downside. I'd pay the extra 20$ or what ever, to have a hood to direct heat forward vs straight vertical. Wicked nice unit, has 10 colors it rotates through for the flame, and the crystal base diamonds. Looks awesome.

Yes, the fan is a bit loud, but it doesn't really bother us. Love all the choices in colours for the flames and rocks. Super easy installation.

Where does the heat vent from? Bottom, top or sides? How big a room will it heat?

The heat vent is located on the top of the fireplace unit. This will give supplemental heat of up to 400 sq. ft.

does the flames look phoney or look realistic looking please?

Hot air rises so logically we would assume a front blowing unit would be the most effective to keep our cold floor warm, but esthetically this unit is what we're looking for. My question is how would this top blowing unit warm anything other than up?

Is there an option to have no heat?

Yes. On the remote, press the button once (the icon will light up) to activate the heater at its low level (700W). Press the button again to change the heater to its high level (1300W). When in high level, touch the button once again to deactivate the heater.
