Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't do it The green ones were used on staircases that my work had built 3 years ago. After only 3 years , every single screw has reacted with the newer treatment used on lumber and corroded causing rust stains to bleed into and discolor all the wood. At first we thought that it was due to the mixture of salt and snow being forced into the boards by peoples boots in the winter, amplifying the speed of deterioration... However , every spindal on every rail has done the same on the top and bottom. Both where a screw was located. These brown ones are even worse than the green ones too , You just can't tell as easily cause they're almost already rust colored

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint in Robertson hole Paint was in the Robertson hole about 1 in 3 making them almost impossible to put into the driver bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong and Versatile! I bought this along with the 1-5/8 screw for DIY projects at home and very pleased with the performance. It is strong compared to other screws that I bought before, the color complements the wood. The saw tooth feature proves to be very useful when driving it directly into wood without pilot hole.

Are these good for use on cedar? Or should I go for stainless steel screws?

Hello. These brown deck screws are approved for ACQ-treated lumber. For use with cedar, properly sealed wood is required to prevent potential surface damage. Thank you.

Would these screws work well to fasten 2x4 and 2x6 rails to 4x4 fence posts? My fence is cedar not pressure treated.

Asked by: matt85
I had used almost two boxes of the screws (1000pcs/box) to refinish my old deck last year. I used them for pressure treated lumber. The screws worked well into lumber and they don't make wook split.
