Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adds elegance to my home. I installed this gate myself with the assistance of my wife. It adds a richness and elegance to my home. This gate wouldn't warp and sag like the previous wooden gates I had. I used 4x4 x10 feet pressure treated posts, 3 feet into the ground and backfill with 1/4 down gravel. Keep the posts inline with each other and the faces of the posts parallel . 42 inches wide (top and bottom) is perfect. Any measurement less than 41 and 3/8 , the latch may not go into the latch plate. When screwing down the hinges, alternate between the 2 screws and go gently at the finish with the impact drill.

We have a 42 inch opening and it fit perfectly to allow the gate to swing in both directions. I think it would work as well for a 39 inch opening with the gate opening one way only.

Mounting to wood on both sides. only have 41.5" opening - possible another 0.25" max. Can it work?

I installed this gate (love it) and measured carefully to answer this question. In my opinion, this gate will fit this opening (just barely.) If it fits a bit too snug, you could always chisel the wood where the hinge brackets mount and recess the bracket about 1/4". The hinge would still function properly. I would also recommend measuring your opening width in numerous locations to ensure the opening size is consistent.

Can you put two together to make a double opening gate?

How high does your post have to be for the top hinge?

Hello, Inorder to attach gate hinges, you - align top of gate post with top of fence post and attach U-shape bracket to the Aluminum fence post with 4 self-drilling fasteners “C”,.
