Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for most decks Since these post anchors cannot be used for decks more than 600mm high they are not really deck post anchors. Many decks are at least this high, and it is the reason railings are required in the first place. Home Depot should not say "Attaches wooden posts to deck surfaces with superior strength and attractiveness" since these anchors "are not designed to be used as part of a guard rail system" (response from manufacturer in Questions section). I bought 4 and only found out later they do not fit the intended use. Glad the local store ran out so that I did not buy more - expensive for a plastic part.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Product is solid, comes complete with the hardware. Robust construction is holding my deck railing posts in place and they look sharp as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Product could be better The Base itself is a great product. The Phillips head screws are the worst thing I have ever seen. The head is too small for the post base and although claimed to be stainless steel they are more likely aluminum as they strip as soon as you put the screwdriver to them. This could be a great product if it had some properly sized Robertson head screws that are made from actual metal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Provided fasteners are bad and need to be replaced While anchors themselves looks sturdy at first glance the aluminum deck fasteners are absolute useless. See attached photo. They cannot bear any load at all and that's something they should! I had to go to the hardware store and buy good fasteners. Now I am worrying about actual anchors how long they will last....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs better screws The anchor itself is good however the included screws are lacking. The Philips head screws easily strip and aren't long enough to properly hold the bottom of the post. The lag bolts aren't long enough to go through the decking and into the frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Post caps make construction easy Worked great with the treated posts, the veranda balusters and the solar lights. Very sturdy and easy to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deck Screws only 2 1/2 inches there is only about an inch left of screw for the block, after it goes through plastic and decking board.

can you fasten a wood post to a concrete pad with these post anchors?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi, Thank you for your inquiry. The 4” x 4” Black Post Anchor can be used to attach a wooden post to a concrete pad, however, the fasteners provided are for attaching to a wooden surface. Fasteners that are designed for concrete applications would need to be purchased separately in order to secure attachment to a concrete pad. Please ensure that this product is suitable for your project by following all local and national building codes. Please feel free to contact our customer service team with any questions you have 1.877.883.PEAK (7325). Sincerely, Peak Products

when installing in Concrete, what type of fasteners should I use? Do I need to use concrete plugs? If you suggest a fastener, please let me know if I can use with or without concrete plugs and if I need plugs please recommend what plugs to use.

Hi Johnny, thanks for your question. You can use a 1/4 Tap Con masonry anchor in this case. Please follow the instructions from the manufacturer for proper installation of the fastener. Thanks Johnny!
