Can this be attached to a wooden 4x4?

You can purchase black metal hinges for wood that thread into a post, and then stick up/down, as in an L shape. Then you will also have to buy the hinge kit for a chain link gate, and use half of the wood hinge kit and half of the chain link gate hardware.
