Peak Adjustable Jack Posts are ideal for supporting structural beams when installed according to local codes. Engineered to provide support for extra floor loads including appliances, water beds, pianos and so much more. Perfect for PRO builders, our adjustable support columns are great for new construction as well as temporary or permanent renovations and repairs. Our jack posts feature large holes on the mounting plate for flexibility when aligning. They are each fitted with a heavy-duty adjustment screw and two locking pins for added strength and ease of adjustability. Constructed from heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant steel for strength and durability (11-gauge inner tube; 12-gauge outer tube).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it is suppose to do. I bought two of these 3 weeks ago to aid in supporting the main beam in my basement so I'd have a more rigid floor above. They were easy assemble and install. The bottom and top plates are identical. I added a 12"x8" 3/4 plywood between my beam and the top plate to aid in spreading support to the beam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, wide support Model is more heavy duty than other jack posts I've used, has larger, thicker plates and the plates have a large dimple (rather than little ridges etc) that is easier to install and provides more lateral support in case you have a joist that lists to one side (here you have to use the screw on the bottom and wider piece on top).

Would this be safe to use outside temporarily to jack up my roof to replace some rotting wood posts? Maybe over the winter.

I would say yes. Worst case it gets surface rust but one winter is not going to structurally compromise this post - it is heavy solid steel…

That jackpost should come with top and bottom plate, a top female threaded post insert, a male adjustment threaded screw, two pipe lengths, and a position pin. If any of those parts are missing take it back and get another. You do not have to buy anything else if that kit is complete.

I have an older house and the cement floor is not completely level. Can I still use?

The levelness of the floor is irrelevant. You need to ask yourself 1. Was there a pillar at that location before (because code requires a seperated thicker pad under the floor to bear the weight) 2. If there was no pillar there before, how much of a load am I planning to place on that spot. (something light would be alright)

What is the adjustable length of the screw itself. In other words, what is the height adjustment simply with the screw itself
