Rated 1 out of 5 by from Outdoor unit defected out of the box I bought a Perfect Aire Mini-Split system, the Outdoor unit defected out of the box - no refrigerant gas flow sound when the refrigerant valves are opened. Fan is not spinning when commissioning the system. The manufacturer Perfect Aire refused to replace the whole Outdoor unit, but they offered to send an internal electronic circuit board so that you can find a local HVAC expert to repair on your own cost, and no guaranty for a fix. Or send them the defected unit, and they may or may not return the functional unit based on their terms. So don’t trust Perfect Aire’s No-hassle 1-Year Warranty. And Don’t buy any Perfect Aire products all together if you don’t want any headaches.

The install was very straight forward. I had a certified electrician do the electrical hookup but I did the rest. Cools the room to icy cold in a matter of minutes! Love it!

J’attend les grandes chaleurs pour commenter le refroidissement mais comme elle sert principalement pour le rez-de-chaussée et que j’en ai une autre pour le 2e étage je m’attends à une meilleure répartition de l’air froid entre les étages.

They could not have been more helpfull & I received a replacement part within days. I installed unit & could not get unit to run properly so I phoned a AC Contractor to come in & check out my work.They could not find anything wrong so I phoned Perfect Aire & they solved the problem over the phone. We have a 1600 Sq ft ho e and placed this unit on the 2 floor and it keeps the whole house cool in the summer. We expected our electricity bill to go up since we had the ac on all summer but it did not, so using the heat mode really saved on our electricity usage. It was easy to Install and I would highly recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DS So far so good - great unit. We got 36,000 BTU for the open concept 1700 sq ft two story house. We did not want the central air because we did not want to cool the basement. Our basement is fully developed and it would simply be way too cold there. Indoor unit was mounted upstairs between the two floors and easily handles three bedrooms upstairs and large living room/kitchen downstairs. There are large south facing windows but this unit has no issues cooling this large south facing space. Low fan speed is perfect for the night and super high fan speed will make you reach for your sweater and socks. I don't think we'll ever have a need for the heat mode but I tested that as well and it works fine. Installation was strength forward - I did everything myself including the electrical work. Just make sure to plan everything accordingly and give yourself plenty of time. My install took 3 days (working on and off - not three full days). It was more complex install as I had to feed the line set through the attic. Also important to note is that despite the 25 foot line set that is included, the max vertical distance between the indoor and outdoor unit is 16 feet. It would be nice if the warranty was longer than 1 year or if Home Depot offered extended warranty. Still, comparing to quotes I got for the similar professional installation with longer warranty, this unit is ~ $10k cheaper.

When the temperature reaches-20 does the unit shut off or continue to try to heat

If I only need 8 feet of line set, and it cannot be shortened, what is the recommendation for storing/coiling the extra line set?

Thank you for your question, the quick connect mini split lineset included in this system kit is 25ft in length; The lineset is pre-vacuumed so it cannot be lengthened or shortened. The extra lineset length can be coiled below or behind the minisplit condenser. The minimum allowable line set length is 10ft and can severely impact the performance of the machine if shorter than 10ft.

Do you need to vacuum the lines after install to see if there are leaks or does the system push air out after the refrigerant is released.

My experience with this installation was seamless. The lines connect and are pre-charged. There was no need to vacuum. I did not encounter any leaks nor did I notice any air exiting the system. The unit has been running since the spring 2022.

Can the interior unit be mounted on a typical stud wall assembly - or is something more required to support this? eg. brick wall - additional nailing surface etc.

Thank you for your questions- A metal hanging bracket will be pre-attached to the indoor unit. It can be mounted onto a typical stud/drywall wall assembly; It weighs 40 lbs. The indoor unit must be mounted on an exterior-facing wall for the gravity drain to directly access the outside.

I’m looking at the 18,000 BTU Mini-Split system for a seasonal cottage. We normally shut the hydro breaker off when we close the cottage up for winter. Can this be safely done without damaging this system or will we need to leave hydro on year round?
