Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST Choice out there I was quite surprised to find this item here. I needed 4 for my bathroom to replace the 78mm J-Type 100W Halogen bulbs. I had checked high and low online over the last couple of years but all I could find were the 4 or 5W replacements that everyone complained about being a lot dimmer than the original replacements (more like a 45W equivalents). These lights from Philips are the real thing. 7.5W and really bright white (not the fluorescent looking cold versions) but probably around 2700-3000K really nice and warm brightness. I can say I can't tell the difference between these and the actual Halogens I just replaced. Also they feel solid and very well made. After all, they're Philips! Very very pleased. Not exactly inexpensive but hopefully the power saving over the next 10-13 years will more than make up for it LOL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than what they replaced. The LED bulbs replaced the halogen bulbs that were in our bathroom fixtures. They run much cooler, use less energy, and I feel that they are safer (halogens were incredibly hot). I hope they last the 13, or so, years they are expected to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully Bright When I first opened the package I didn't think these would fit as they are quite a bit larger than the halogen glass tube type. To my surprise all four fit perfectly. Now my bathroom is flooded with light without the high heat the halogen bulbs produce. Which is why we chose to get these bulbs. The heat from the halogen was damaging the bathroom ceiling. Expensive yes, but less than buying a new fixture and time spent on the install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect replacement for Halogen light bulbs In my home, there are 3 vanity lights in 3 bathrooms, and total 11 100W halogen light bulbs. They are bright but very also product a lot of heat. In winter the bathrooms are warm, but in summer, it's like an oven soon after the lights are turn on. Also the heat built up from the light bulbs and much electric current makes the contacts bad and the lights might flicker. Fortunately I found the Philips T3 LED light bulbs. They are perfect replacement for these halogen light bulbs. They are actually a little brighter than the halogen and I like the 3000K color temp too, close to the color of halogen. Much less heat produced and my bathrooms are cool. Of course, they save a lot of energy and $ on electricity bill. Note: you have to check the length of the light bulb before you order.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool & Bright I replaced 4 Halogen 75 Watt T3 lamps that were hot, power hungry and emit UV radiation. The Philips LED lamps run cool and produce clean, very bright white light. Great in the bathroom on hot summer days and they last way longer than any conventional lamp. Highly recommend these. I also have the 200 Watt ones that I use in my work light, not as bright as the 200 Watt Halogen, but they run very cool so I don't burn myself anymore when moving the light around the workplace!

Can someone please tell me the diameter of this light bulb? I want to use it to replace a traditional T3 bulb but the slot for the bulb is quite narrow and I wonder if the diameter of this LED bulb may be too large for the slot. Thank you.

The bulb ballast is thicker and does not fit in with the glass casing. You will have to remove the glass casing which comes with the traditional install and just use the LED light by itself. It does not heat up so it's fine without the glass casing.

Regarding the 4 pack 3.6W=100W Bright White 79mm T3 LED Light Bulb (4-pack). Question - how can 3.6W =100W when 7.5W = 100W? Was this a typo?

Don't have original container but I'm pretty sure you will only get 4, a single bulb is typically about $30. These bulbs are vastly superior to the Chinese ones on Amazon etc. which have a very high DOA rate or fail really quickly. These Phillips have been very reliable

The bulb description here says "3.6W=100W". When I check Philips web site for model 471946 there's no word about 3.6W, rather 7.5W. So it's either typo or misinformation. Anyway, it looks like the bulb will consume twice more energy than advertised here.
