Rated 5 out of 5 by from This the real deal! Finally after using 2 types of filler, black jack & latex-ite which aren't good enough and keeps on cracking. I found this product and gave it a try. The effort and labour I would say is worth it as it stays flexible during hot sunny days and hard during 20C. The real test will be after this winter season which I knew would by flying colours as this was applied with heat and it's the key when applying asphalt on roads and highways! For small cracks, 2 methods: a) you can heat the strip while dragging it along the crack, b.) you can heat it up an inch above the crack and let it drip. This method has less burn marks on the asphalt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great material to work with I had a small gasoline spill on my brand new ( 2 months old) Asphalt driveway! I removed the spill immediately but the gasoline eat through the fresh asphalt in a few spots. Damaged only about half inch deep. I cut this filler into small pieces and heated up with a propane torch in an old stainless steel spoon. I just filled up the little holes where the stones/ asphalt was washed out. Filled them up a little higher the the surface of the driveway. Speed up the cooling with an ice cube, after cooled down I just used a sharp long knife and shaved off to the smooth surface to the driveway! It works great. Now I just have to wait for the harsh Canadian Winter and see how it will be next year in the Spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and durable This product is very easy to use and is better applied using a heat gun. Can drive over it 30 minutes after applying. Gets into cracks and provides proper seal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Permanent joint and crack filler Best to use a propane torch to melt when applied. I found a thermo gun was not as efficient

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT if installed differently than suggested don't follow the directions, the material will pull out very soon. don't fill the crack and heat the top. you have to melt the goo into the crack like dripping wax or soldering a pipe fitting. this is a great product if applied this way, otherwise be prepared for the strip to come loose and get pulled out very easily as the entire bottom and most of the sides will not be bonded to the asphalt if you stuff the crack before you heat the material..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent product I fixed few cracks on my driveway... this is the best product to fill and seal them. As soon as it melts the tar goes deep and seals perfectly. Make sure you use torch with enough heating power. I used successfully a "Lawn and Garden Propane Torch".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Probably the best you can get on the consumer market. It stays where you put it, unlike the cold paste you find in tubes. I deducted one star because without a gun with a torch it takes a lot of time, precision and skill to fill small cracks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just like the city roads crews use. Great solution for filling cracks. It works just like the stuff the city roads maintenance crews use. I used it to edge a large cold patch in front of my garage. It bonded the edge of the cold patch to the existing asphalt perfectly.

Wondering what is the diameter of this product - 1/4" or 1/2"?

Asked by: Mamma
It’s 1/2” round. I found this material a bit tough to work with a regular torch. Takes a lot to heat up. I used a tiger torch and although it melted the main problem I found is you can damage the asphalt surface due to the heat. I bought 13 rolls of it and will be using it on my driveway again this year.

Will this product work to fill cracks between flag stone steps and porch?

Asked by: Marc in Toronto
It would work but keep a couple things in mind. This product is black. It needs to be heated with a torch to melt into the crack and fill/level the area. It is designed for asphalt driveways.  Your application sounds like you should be using a self-levelling butyl caulk which is gray, remains flexible and does not require heat.
