Rated 5 out of 5 by from It uses Arrow T50 staples!! First off: I don't know why anybody had problems getting the staples at Homedepot. Porter Cable mentions only a weird type in the manual, but this is the same as the very common Arrow T50 staples or the Stanley equivalent. Pros: The stapler works well and is light. Even my wife with her tiny hands can use it overhead (stapling vapor barrier). Cons: No belt clip! Not the fastest! I've mounted fabric on frames for trade shows. for that you don't want a safety trigger (not a big problem) and a faster stapler. It's still fast enough for upholstery, vapor barriers etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value Took it out of the box and was using it in 60 seconds. Load Arrow T-50 staples, set pressure to 90 psi and go. Used it for a couple hours and went through several hundred staples without a jam. The magazine will only hold a full strip of staples so you have to run them all out before re-loading. The nice part is that it drives the last staple the same as the first! The only con, if it is one, is that staples do not set the same when you staple into a knot. Increasing air pressure would help, but a knot is a challenge for ANY fastener, best to avoid them if possible.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I have to in this case. I've gone through two of these staplers after they have both suffered the same problem. I opened the first one up to see if it was fixable and saw that there is a flimsy plastic part that is key to the driving mechanism returning to its original position. I returned it thinking it was an anomaly, but then the second one broke within the first 50 staples! I couldn't believe it! I own and love a number of Porter & Cable air tools, but I think they failed on this particular design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great! Used this to make sound-absorbing panels for my home theater. I am not a veteran and had a hard time finding compatible staples because of how Home Depot stocks the staples in a different aisle (near the spring staple guns). I use the Arrow T50 staples. Cheap and never misfire. Use earplugs! Loud and powerful. I think the bad reviews are misleading since they seem to think this is lame nail gun. Its a stapler!

The hand staplers are no good for larger jobs. The electric staplers are not powerful enough to drive the staples. This Porter cable does what I need it to do. Mostly repairing vinyl on a boat and putting targets on to plywood. The internals do not work like you would think. A cylinder moves a metal arm until it reaches it's max travel and the metal arm slams down and drives the staple in. Like I said in the beginning...I needed something powerful enough to drive T50 stainless staples. I hope this helps you with your project.

The staple gun is light weight and quite. The compact design didn’t compromise its power or function. I didn’t experience misfires or partially driven staples. I used the tool to install vapor barrier. I left the tool out in the middle of the job to run an errand and returned to my wife using it to reupholster some dining room chairs. She used it the rest of the day and didn’t feel exhausted or fatigued. I have now used the pneumatic stapler approximately five months and it works as if I just removed it from the box. Knocked it out of the park! Good job Porter Cable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little stapler I bought this to redo the leather on my dining room chairs. I was afraid at first that we couldn't Find the staples for it , but then I read reviews and saw that you can use the T-50 staples that are easy to find. They worked fine and the stapler worked great.

I set the regulated pressure at 90 psi and drove a 9/16" x 3/8" crown staple all the way home in a piece of 3/4" plywood. Used it to reinstall padding and carpet in my utility closet. Worked perfectly. Powerful, light weight and comfortable handling. Great for home and hobby projects.

How do you load the bread nails.

Asked by: denny
1. Remove air line from tool. 2. Hold stapler upside down as shown and release loading hatch. 3. Place one stick of staples in bottom channel so legs are pointing up. Push slide closed, making sure latch engages. 4. For brads, place only on left side (direction as shown on the magazine liner). Be sure nail heads are pointing down. Push slide closed, make sure latch engages.

Can I use it to staple the underlayment down for vinyl flooring? Installation calls for a narrow crown stapler but just wondering if this would work or if I should spring for a narrow crown stapler.
Asked by: JR
This is not a narrow crown stapler, and will not hold a long enough staple for underlayment. The staples would work their way out and eventually show or even break through the vinyl. Spring, you'll be glad you did.

Can I use this for stapling down felt paper?
Asked by: EliC
Yes you could. I prefer to use roofing buttons for the roof vapor barrier. If you are using felt for the horizontal vapor barrier on the side of the building it is easier to staple than nail. CaboBear

Will this stapler have enough power to staple oak flooring together?

I am using oak wood flooring scraps to build a train layout for my grandson. Does it have enough power to successfully drive the 3/8ths staples flush to the wood?
Asked by: Nicholas
I do not believe this stapler is the right tool for oak flooring. The tool has the power, but these staples do not seem to be designed for this application.
