My father has two of this generator, and during our last storm, he was out of power for 9 days. He told me they worked great, powering a well pump with one, and a wall unit, refrigerator and some lights with the other. I purchased this generator based on his recommendation and hope I will not need it for years to come.

I used only Rec 90 non ethanol gas and ran dry before storage. Starts on half a pull every year when I test it and run it dry again. I have had mine for 6 years and keep it in like new cond. No leaks, no problems. large fuel tank. We were conservative while using this size generator. It powered a window unit and fridge/hot water heater and lights. Good fuel consumption/power output.

I purchased a variant of this generator [actually the same one] in 2001 while stationed in the tidewater virginia area after it was hit by Hurricane Isabel. 16 years later this machine still runs like a dependable beast. The good ole Briggs and Statton engine has held up over all these years. I must confess this a dependable generator based on my personal experience. After retiring in Florida and experiencing the many Hurricanes in the 2005-7 season, I have relied on this generator and it has been a tried and true performer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Country girl's Wish come true! I am a single woman that owns a small farm out in the country and definitely needed a generator due to the rural nature of where I live. I had been planning on getting a generator and when this one came available I immediately selected it and waited anxiously for it to be delivered. I am a small boned 112 pound woman and this generator weighs far more than I do but with some heaving, pulling, (probably some cussing) I managed to get it situated and ready for emergency use. Believe me I am more than satisfied, now I won't need to worry during bad storms either snow and ice or hurricanes. I absolutely recommend getting a generator if for nothing else but piece of mind and safety. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent portable generator for home or job site use. For a number of years I have been looking for a portable generator to keep our major home appliances running during power outages. We have suffered financial losses in the past due to long duration power outages. Thus, when this 5,250 Watt generator became available I requested it. The unit appears to be well built, and very heavy weighting in at about 184 pounds. After carefully reading the 26-pages of detailed and critical instructions I decided not to turn it on until we have a power outage. Apparently, after running it the first time you need to turn it on every seven days and allow it to run at least 30 minutes. If you do not do so, then you must follow the long term storage instructions to prevent damage. I was disappointed to read the unit is not weather proof and must be operated in only a dry environment. The instructions specifically state do not operate the unit in your garage even with the garage door open. This leaves me in a predicament of what to do when the power is out for days and it is continuously raining or snowing. Apparently, I need to have an outdoor shelter with a roof and maybe two side walls to protect the unit from blowing rain and snow, but yet allow the poisonous carbon monoxide gas to escape.
