Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great when correctly installed! Once I figured out the correct way to install the panels one on top of another, the installation was simple and the end product very nice. Do take the time to lay the panels out on the floor (as stated in the instructions) before you start, to ensure you understand how the panels fit together. The installed slatwall looks very nice and seems very sturdy. The kit comes with plenty of hooks and assorted hardware.

Be cautious of the over all height as it is 48 1/2 " , which is important to know if you are framing out the 2x4 to the concrete wall first. Hardware pretty good, they give you a bit for your impact gun also to use for install. Never seem to have enough hooks though:)

When installing, we are getting two or three panels up and the bottom slats are not staying locked into place. How do we fix this?
Asked by: Melanie
This means that the slats are not properly installed. You must interlock your panels and screw into the cavity at each stud (16 inch.). please refer to our installation instructions on how to properly interlock the panels. You may also contact us at 1-888-691-2944 x 215 for installation questions.

If I mount to studs, can I shim this to match surrounding drywall without losing the load rating?

Asked by: Jamiej
Hello! If I understand correctly I think you would like to mount the Slatwall panels to an area where it's right over the studs then have it sit flush with the drywall that's already there beside it. If that's the case then it depends on the size of the drywall as our panels are 3/4in off the wall when installed so generally it would sit flush if it was right next to your drywall, unless it's half inch then it won't be exact. However, it'll be very close. As long as you install your Slatwall every 16" into the studs, the weight bearing capacity will not change. If your drywall is thicker than 3/4in then you can mount some plywood onto the studs behind your slatwall panels to compensate for the difference. I hope this helps!

I would like to install this on an interior wall that has studs at 24 inch on center, will this product still work? If so how much weight can it handle?
Asked by: Davis
I just emailed the company with the same question. I am planning to use drywall anchors at the 12" marks to help increase the weight the slat wall can handle (this should depend on the anchor/molly). Otherwise I plan on hanging heavier items directly over the studs.

Can the panels be screwed into a cement wall?

Asked by: John
Hi, Thank you for this question. In order to install the Slatwall on cement walls, you will need to fasten 2 x 3 in. studs or furring strips vertically at 16 in. using a cement screw. Then install the panels to the studs. You will need to use 1-1/2in. #8 pan head screws instead of the hardware provided in the box. Feel free to contact the vendor directly if you have additional installation questions at 1-888-691-2944 or email them at info@proslat.com.

can it be cut down into 2 pieces
Asked by: Mike
It is sent in single 8 foot sections. As described in the purchase notes, you can put the 8 foot rails individually in separate spots but you won’t have the same framework. Basically, you install the bottom rail, then side rails, the slide each 8 foot rail in- securing it along the studs. Then put in top piece to finish it off. I’m not sure if you can cut the 8 ft lengths into shorter pieces. Very secure as a 4 x 8 ft section.

Can the panels be installed directly over cinder block walls using Tapcon masonry anchors.

Can the panels be installed directly over cinder block walls using Tapcon masonry anchors.
Asked by: Shadow
If you can work a downward angle then MAYBE. The problem I see with that is the size of the tapcon anchor vs the screws that come with the proslat wall and the small amount of material you have to screw into. There's about 1/3 inch to work with and always have to be mindful of the screw head getting caught on the lip of the panel

can i hang it on a bedroom wall

Asked by: lisa
As long as there are studs, you can pretty much hang anything. So, yes it shouldn't be a problem.
