I laid it loose over concrete leveling compound over plywood floors that was from around 1978 and put laminate flooring in on top. Directions weren't clear 100% but on second main room I called and was told I could open plastic wrappers that the sheets were packed in the days before installation. The panels shrank probably 1/16th to 1/8th in each dimension leaving cracks between sheets in the smaller room i put them dow as i unwrapped them. I doubt that tiny air space will have any effect on noise reduction as it is the small air pockets isolated from each other that is the real principle of noise reduction i believe

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent for our needs The only problem I have because how expensive it is is that they force you to buy a whole new box which was over 300 dollars. We only used 3 sheets out of the box and are stuck with the rest. In this day and age when our governments are taxing us to death we can’t afford to have expensive paperweights. They should sell them in boxes of 5 so as this does not happen.

We plan to glue those tiles, sand it down and varnish it as a main floor. Do you think we should use epoxy? Or a few layers of varnish will be good. The floor will be glued in a basement, on cement. There will be 9 kids between 0 to 5 playing around.

Thank you for your inquiry. Roberts does not recommend this or any application / process outside of the specified instructions. Roberts Natural cork is specifically recommended and warranted for use as an underlayment product. However, we look forward to your feedback if you would like to move forward with your project.

Can I install cork flooring over this cork underlayment, and if so, will that create an even better sound barrier than either one alone? Thank you.

    Asked by: Richard
Generally speaking, yes, this product may be used under cork flooring. However, you would want to check with your cork flooring manufacturer to confirm that they approve the use of additional underlay pads under their product. As it regards sound ratings, adding an additional barrier will provide slight improvement over either one singularly.

Has anyone used this underlay in 1/2 inch with a 12mm laminate flooring.  If so what brand of laminate did you use. Does anyone know what types of laminate are compatible with this underlay so the flooring does not buckle.

Hi, Can tiles be installed over 1/2 cork underlayment? is there anything unusual about this process? Also could it be used on outside of the house, later siding will be installed over it?

    Asked by: Dmitry
This underlayment is designed for use under ceramic tile, stone, marble, glued wood flooring and floating floor systems. For ceramic tile, stone or marble including radiant heated floors, use a mortar designed for the specific tile being installed with tape (fibreglass) at the seams. For more installation details call customer service @ 1-866-435-8665. It is not designed for use under VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) or Vinyl Plank tiles. Please choose a specific underlayment for those types of tile installations. This underlayment is not designed for use outside the house.
