Its quarter inch (six mm) thickness is just right for use with free weights. It is dense enough so as not to impede foot movement., yet thick enough to protect the flooring under the mat from dropped weights ( I only dropped a fifty pounder so far, not sure about heavier). Being anti microbial is a bonus for perspiration dripping onto the surface. I tried some under my desk chair and liked how it worked better than when the chair was on bare carper.

I could hear my adult kids over our room at night. This underlayment help quiet the "heavy walkers" above us. It didn't eliminate any sound from the upstairs, but it hasn't been as obnoxious. The downside of this underlayment is the cost. It's much more costly than most other underlayments, adding significantly to the overall cost of the flooring project. The 2' x 3' sheets are about 1/4" thick and lay flat and butt snugly. I used masking tape to keep them from moving while installing the laminate. This is a great underlayment, but it doesn't come cheap!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This underlayment make the Floors quite and comfortable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea behind the technology of the QUIETBOARD is good. It does really quell the sound of uneven floors, especially wood when used as an underlayment.  It also can compensate for the uneven laying of vinyl or wood flooring. It has many advantages for our small world, it is all recycled fibers so that concept makes this company a better place to live.  (they don't say what kind of fibers but I believe that it is mostly plastic or rubber fibers. Handling and installation are very easy since they are very lightweight. Also, it is very easy to cut to size. Overall a great product, but I believe that the price offered is a little too high for this product.

I decided to try the Quietboard flooring underlayment. I was pleased that this flooring underlayment is made in the United States, is thicker than the others, easier to lay down than the others, and is also made from recycled material. It only took an afternoon to install and it was quite easy. Since the installation, I have noticed a reduction in noise (walking noise dampened a lot) and I know the Quietboards are the reason that my living room feels much warmer now. I'm planning on installing them in other rooms in my house.

We used it under vinyl planks in our kitchen. It is reassuring that it has moisture barriers that will help with any spills or humidity in the kitchen. It is easy to lay out and cut when needed at the corners and ends of the room. The planks went easily over and everything is even and solid. It does seems to be quieter too when out dogs or kids are running on the floor. The quality and ease of this product made the floor replacement a much smoother job.

I found this QUIETBOARD and I am very impressed. These are exactly as stated....they are "boards". Each board is exactly 2ft x 3ft and has a thickness similar to a heavy duty foam type underlayment however this is a fiberboard so it absorbs heavy foot traffic and quiets the movement of the laminant. The boards are place next to one another and due to having some weight..they don't move! They sit side by side and the laminant. Very easy install and an outstanding product. Only con the cost per sq foot is a bit more than the standard foam top underlayments. You get what you pay for. This is highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superior quality at a great price [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am installing EverLux XXL vinyl flooring (Model# SPC-7-EGY – beautiful flooring!) which is .27” thick in my bathroom and hardwood in the rest of the house which is .625” thick. This underlayment is quite thick at 6mm (.24”) so it will negate the need to have a step-down into the bathroom which is the main feature that I wanted. But that actually is the best thing about this underlayment – it is solid, soft underfoot, levels out imperfections in sub-floors, and if installing on a second floor, cuts down on the transmission of sound. I can’t believe how this makes the vinyl flooring so solid and soft underfoot – well worth every penny! To install the underlayment, you install it perpendicular to the direction of your flooring. It can be floated as long as your flooring is 4mm or thicker. As with all underlayments, the seams must be taped using a good quality duct tape at least 2” wide. What I love about this underlayment is you don’t have to worry you might tear it as you are installing the flooring (walking back and forth to the saw, etc.) Again another feature that makes the installation easier!

It is approved for use with in-floor heating systems and made with 100% recycled materials. This underlayment is treated to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. This product is proudly made in the USA.

What is the exact thickness? (web shows 236mil = 9.29in, not possible)

Why don't you use Standard measurements in fractions of inches or closest to 32nds or 64ths of an inch. MM means nothing to most of us. Cannot visualize it.

Most measuring tapes have both inches and millimeters on them. ;) An inch is appx 25 mm, or 2.5 cm. Once you get used to metric, it's a LOT easier than imperial.

This product is not designed as a rug pad and we have no testing data to say how it would perform. It is made out of recycled fibers so it shouldn't harm the finish on the flooring.
