The underlayment extremely thin to the point there were a few spots with no padding and the black plastic was showing on the bottom. I've used this product on the 6' rolls and did not have this problem. This time I purchased 5 rolls of the 3 foot rolls and they were all the same. Also the plastic seemed to be stretched too tight in the manufacturing process when it was glued to the padding. After unrolling it was trying to shrink back down and wouldn't lay flat. The only way I was able to make this better was to cut off the plastic flap that overlaps the row you laid next to it and I had to tape the rows of underlayment together.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very nice underlayment. I am using it for laminate flooring and it is working out great. I love that it has a very easy peel adhesive strip so you can stick the extra strip of plastic from the next piece on it after you have butted them together. That is a big help. The directions are easy to follow and the underlayment cuts beautifully and is easy to work with. It is of nice quality; the vinyl side has a nice leather look to it and after moving it around quite a bit and cutting, etc. I can say that it is definitely durable. It is easy to work with and is a good value.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have a raised wood foundation built in the 1950s.... I have a raised wood foundation built in the 1950s. It has real 2x8 planks as the subfloor and then a thin plywood only 3/8in. I wanted to see if this would help dampen the sound. Before laying the floors I jumped on the quietwalk and noticed a very big difference with it. It definitely dampened the sound. However after laying Vinyl planks with the rubber mat connected already on the bottom of the planks we found a huge problem that is driving my wife and I CRAZY. Since the top of quietwalk is made of a plastic there is a noise we can hear when walking on the floor. We compare it to the sound as if you had a piece of tape stuck to your shoe. Its not too loud but noticeable enough to make us wish we did not use it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a review of the Quietwalk underlayment for vinyl flooring. This is nice stuff to work with and as it states in the name it reduces noise very well. It seems to be well made. One side is a grey felt material and the other is black vinyl. Depending on the method of installation and type of flooring one or the other side faces up. The 100 Sq. ft. roll is wrapped in plastic and in a box. There is a very detailed set of instructions on the back of the product label, so be sure to keep the label when removing the wrapping. The manufacturer also provides a website with videos and installation tips. Excellent. I highly recommend this product as an underlayment when installing vinyl flooring!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good underlayment for sound and moisture control. It is also treated with an antimicrobial. The underlayment is thin but dense and made of recycled materials. It rolls out smoothly on the floor not retaining the rolled up shape. It has an adhesive strip built in to allow for adjoining pieces to be secured. Used on concrete floor with floating laminate and the sound insulation is very good. It can be used as an underlayment for many different types of flooring and substrates. Shipped for free. Good price point on a 100 SF roll.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a preliminary review of this Quietwalk underlayment. Installation was very simple and easy. I overlapped the edge with the incorporated edge material. I taped the overlap with a thin clear vinyl adhesive tape. I cut the border edges about 1/4" from walls. This material incorporates an anti-microbial fiber that is sound dampening and a vapor barrier. I installed it over concrete with a 3/4" sub-floor, and a hard wood finish floor. I'll try to remember to do a follow-up review after it's been in a year.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm remodeling a room in my basement and decided to go with this stuff between the cement and LFV. I got it all laid out when I realized there was one spot in the middle of the roll that was hard. This wouldn't have been a big problem if it wasn't also curved. It was so hard and raised up that there was no way the flooring would press it down. I had to cut it out. It's not really a big deal, but for me that made the difference of needing an additional roll because of how much I had to cut out. Where it didn't have a problem it seemed like good quality stuff.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 100 square foot roll (3 ft x 33.34 x 1/16 in) Acoustical Underlayment with vapor barrier for luxury vinyl flooring is a very good match for use with my flooring projects. I am following all the recommended instructions for both the underlayment and the flooring. So far everything is working out very well for my projects. The installation was easy and will give the floor a nice quiet and comfortable feel. I have tried other brands and will definitely use this one again. PapaBear1

I am laying radiant heating mats on top of the underlayment. Then vinyl flooring on top. The area that does not have the radiant heat mats would be uneven. What can I lay to make the floor all even?

Asked by: uneven
the the QuietWalk 100 sq. ft. x 3 ft. x 33.34 ft. x 1.4mm Acoustical Underlayment with Vapor Barrier would be a good option, Tape it in place with there floor Red Tape.

Does this have enough moisture blocking ability to be the sole underlayment in a concrete slab basement situation, or is an additional layer advisable?
Asked by: PS
It’s just exactly what you need! No need for anything additional - that actually might be troublesome if two layers were to be used. Wise choice!

I have a heavy footer above me in a new building that has concrete floors. Can I attach this to the ceiling (in my apartment) to help with noise absorption?

Asked by: Chris
This product is designed to be under the weight of a vinyl plank or laminate floor. It would need to be below the flooring above. I don't think it would make any difference on the ceiling.

Knowing it’s not the intended use.. I’m wondering if it’s flexiable enough to wrap around 4” ABS for sound barrier?

Asked by: Devon
Hi Devon, The underlay is quite thin and I doubt it would deaden sound in a pipe. I would go with a thicker foil or paper/plastic sided insulation. If you are sound proofing a drain pipe, I know that even with insulation, you will still hear water running through it. If you can, box it into an insulated wall.
