A gentle electric radiant heat system designed specifically for dry installation under floating wood and laminate floors. This 2-in-1 system allows you to cut mat in middle and use both ends of mat. Helping reduce waste with money savings! A low profile, line voltage system, it features gradual warmth from low wattage resistance heating of ultra-thin, flexible radiant heat film. Installed easily over a subfloor or over an acoustic/insulating underlayment as part of the overall floor assembly, it uses just 12-Watt per square foot to gently raise the temperature of the floor, conforming to the warranty requirements of many floating floors. The system, which sports an impressive 99% efficiency, includes temperature limiting properties so the film does not overheat. Its available in four convenient rollout mat sizes that will accommodate most any layout. Each mat has wires pre-attached for ease of installation.

I found it was a bit tricky to connect the thermostat because the thermostat needs to be also 120V. I installed this in our basement in my small office and it worked fantastic. The heating mats are very thin and worked great under vinyl click lock flooring planks. I connected the mats to a thermostat and 20 AMP light switch that I had left from a project years ago and it is working great. When work in my office my toes are toasty and we do not have to run the space heater at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mat Only [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this in the mail a couple weeks ago, unfortunately this didn't come with a controller so I wasn't able to test it, and the controllers alone are quite pricey and I won't be investing in something I won't be personally using, I just had to let that be known, so my review will be only on looks, the mat is really smooth and it says it goes over the flooring soundproofing but under the actual flooring that makes sense, it's thick plastic, and the trim lines are well defined

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm floors are perfect! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Quiet Warmth floor heating system is great! You will need to purchase the QuietWarmth thermostat to control it (also available through Home Depot). I would suggest getting the 7-day programmable thermostat so you can schedule the days and time the warmer is on and to also determine what temperature you want. I already have this system in my master bathroom and LOVE IT!!! Make sure you get the matting which is the correct size for your room. This mat can be cut (keep attached to each other on one end). So if you have a 10x10 room, this mat is a perfect size. When cut, it becomes 6 x 8-1/2 and you don't want the heat to go all the way to the edges of the room because you don't walk along the very edges of your room. You will need a professional electrician (or someone with sufficient knowledge) to wire the wall thermostat and to make sure the "sensor wire" is in the correct position under the flooring. This system is for floating floors (see pic for details). I can't even explain to you how nice it is to walk on warm floors in the winter time. The ambient heat makes it so cozy and inviting! Nothing like climbing out of a shower and onto a warm floor! I wish I would have put this throughout my entire home when it was being renovated!

If you have a room where your kids play or a family room or something and prefer to have a warm floor this film is the perfect answer. It is not so difficult to install and your do not need a bunch more components to make it happen. I would definitely recommend this product.

The install looks like it will be fairly easy - the instruction are very detailed. This section of heating is wired on both ends so I can cut the mat wherever I need for two pieces. This lets you utilize as much as possible from each roll. Product is super thin and easy to lay out on the floor. Install goes really quickly if you are prepared with the correct materials and tools. Carefully following the instructions is not difficult - if proper time is taken. 12 watts per square foot - 120v only. Ok, install is simple - I watched a few youtube videos and compared to instructions to make the install easy. Need to add underlayment and confirm flooring surface is approved for heat. A thermostat is also highly recommended - for control and safety. I plan to purchase more of this heating system for the bedroom when we replace that floor next. Measure twice and cut carefully!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Has Some Benefits for Some Applications, but Potentially Weak Performance for Some Applications [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was intrigued with this approach to radiant floor systems. I have used the WarmWire system in a couple of my bathrooms, and have been happy with that. This system is a bit lower cost for the heating elements, which are constructed with screen printed carbon/silver sandwiched inside plastic sheets. This has the advantage of a very thin construction, and therefore will not add appreciably to the floor thickness. The only exception is at the ends where the wires connect. The WarmWire and other floor heating systems tend to add at least 1/4 inch to the floor construction, and once needs to plan out the floor design to ensure that the total construction lines up with adjacent floors. I was disappointed to see that this floor heater is intended only for floating floors, as this greatly limits my ability to utilize this system. Other heating systems tend to be a bit more flexible as to where they can be used: most of my applications are under hardwood and ceramic tile. The lower wattage of this unit also concerns me, especially in applying over a concrete floor in the basement. Note that the unit does NOT include the controller, which is about $150. Considering that added cost, this unit is a bit lower in overall cost but to me the advantages of other systems (such as higher heat output and flexibility)is worth the extra investment. This unit also restricts the dimensions that one can use: it can be cut in half and each half can be used, but systems like WarmWire can be used in any shape as it is a wire that is laid down. Perhaps this system would be good for some people's needs, but for me it falls short for my applications.

Hi. Can I install under a washing machine and dryer? The space between the wall and these machines are 5? so even if I use your 3? and 18? mats next to one another, they will fall under the machines. What about under a stand alone pantry cabinet?

You do not want to install the mats under any flat bottom furniture or permanent structures. Anything placed on the overlying floor covering must have an air gap between the item and the flooring to allow proper air flow for the floor covering to breath.

I want to install over a concrete slab in my living room. Can I put this over a 8mil plastic vapor barrier? Also, would it be beneficial to cover the whole flooring, even under couch? Will I feel a difference in the temperature of the room as well?

Thank you for reaching out Dave. You need to install some form of a vapor barrier when putting the mats over concrete. As for the benefit of using the heat everywhere vs spot heating, that depends on what you want out of the system. If you want to just make sure the floor feels warm where you walk, just do spot heating. If you want to try and help supplement your primary heat source and keep the entire room warmer, then a wall to wall application will suit you much better.

if your laminate flooring comes with the pad already on it. Do you still need to put the padding on the floor before you install the heat mat

Jeff, no additional pad is necessary. Just make sure to follow the specifications if installing over a concrete subfloor and use the proper moisture protection if applicable.

I plan to install over concrete so I need a moisture barrier. I noticed QuietWalk includes a moisture barrier and cushion. Can I use QuietWalk if my luxury vinyl tiles has attached padding? If not, which moisture barrier can I use with QuietWarmth mats?

You will need to check with the flooring manufacturer if they allow for secondary underlayment to be used under their attached pad floors. We approve the use of our underlayment, but if they don't that can lead to warranty issues. If they say no secondary underlayment, the use of a 6mil poly will suffice.
