A gentle electric radiant heat system designed specifically for dry installation under floating wood and laminate floors. This 2-in-1 system allows you to cut mat in middle and use both ends of mat. Helping reduce waste with money savings! A low profile, line voltage system, it features gradual warmth from low wattage resistance heating of ultra-thin, flexible radiant heat film. Installed easily over a subfloor or over an acoustic/insulating underlayment as part of the overall floor assembly, it uses just 12-Watt per square foot to gently raise the temperature of the floor, conforming to the warranty requirements of many floating floors. The system, which sports an impressive 99% efficiency, includes temperature limiting properties so the film does not overheat. Its available in four convenient rollout mat sizes that will accommodate most any layout. Each mat has wires pre-attached for ease of installation.

Great product, however it failed local home inspector as the product is not UL listed, it is only UL referenced and the inspector said it cannot be installed in any home in the US unless it is listed by a qualified organization like UL.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as advertised Mats installed and electrician wired but no heat. Called MP products & they said they only work if something is touching them. So we opened a few boxes of our LVP floor. Set thermostat to 80 but the floors still only rose to maybe .5 degree over room temp. Had electrician return to recheck. Again we covered the boards to test it but maybe 1/2 degree of heat. We pulled it all up and returned to Home Depot. Out $400 for the electrician. Just buy slippers instead of this!

Can this be installed on the concrete floor with laminate on top.  I’m directly on the concrete.

Asked by: Nancy
Yes, this can go on concrete. It will need at least a 6mil vapor barrier over concrete - under the heating mat - first. However, many pair QuietWalk underlayment with it to help insulate the concrete and offer vapor barrier in one - it also helps to recess the lead wires of the heating mat into the underlayment to keep the planks level for clicking together. Instead of connecting all lead wires in one junction box to a 12/2 wire and that wire going to the thermostat, can I connect the lead wires to two 12/2 wires in two separate junction boxes that connect to the thermostat?

Asked by: Replacing Rads
You are able to utilize as many junction boxes as needed to complete the project. We recommend to limit the number of junction boxes in order to limit the number of wires coming into the back of the thermostat to make installation easier.

Does this kit come with the programmable thermostat? How do you connect multiple pieces (how is the actual connection done?)

Asked by: Dresswell
Thank you for reaching out. This is simply for the mat, no thermostat included. To connect multiple mats, you will run your wires to a junction box and tie all of your lead wires together at that location. From the junction box, you will use 12-2 wire to connect the junction box to the thermostat.

Could we cut in two part of different lenght, like 9 and 7 feet or we should absolutly cut in the middle(2 parts of 8 feet)

Asked by: Fred
You are able to cut the mat into 2 parts at any length. The cut does not have to be made exactly in the middle.

What is the advantage or disadvantage to 120 versus 240?

Asked by: Scott
The main difference is the square footage that can be controlled by a thermostat. On the 120V system, there can be up to 150sf of mats per thermostat. On the 240V system, there can be up to 300sf of mats per thermostat.

If run through the whole house, can this be used as the primary heat source?

Asked by: ckolo
Thank you for reaching out. You will have to run a J-Calculation for heat loss to determine if the product would work or not for a primary heat source. This has to be done with each specific location and details about each job site.
