Rated 1 out of 5 by from No strength, hard to work with, too expensive Maybe it was a bad batch or the bags may have gotten wet before I purchased them. The mix was pretty clumpy, so I suspect it got wet. I followed the instructions perfectly when mixing with a drill mounted mixer for several minutes. The consistency was very difficult to work with, it flow well or form a skim on top like regular concrete. After an hour trying to work with it I scraped it all off and let it set in a pile. After several days it has almost no strength, just slightly stronger than wet sand. Home Depot also sells "mortar mix" which was excellent by comparison at less than half the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been Using for Over 30 Years This product is not new to me. Always good results and the mixed in adhesive is a bonus. I have areas over 30 years old that are still holding. The small pail is sometimes all you need, but the large bag is extremely good value if you have room to store it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Watch out! Bought a bad bag... I had the misfortune to buy an expired bag of this product. At 52 dollars for 18kg, pretty painful that Home Depot would let a product expire that much. Didn't set at all, and was forced to scrape out the sandy mix left behind. Also the aggregate is too coarse to make small repairs. Check your bags!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too expensive Purchased 12 bags of Bonded Topping Mix, applied product as directed. There is inconsistency of color tone of gray when cured. The price at $52 a bag is outrageous and found out that I could have used sand and topping mix purchased the bonding agent and still was much cheaper.

Can I just apply a very thin layer of (say, about 3mm) this Bonding Topping Mix on old concrete surface? Will it hold?

Asked by: James
Yes however make sure you prep the surface, by cleaning well and ensuring there is no water standing. That water will weaken your slurry. You can apply coats up to 12mm. The topping mix has a bonding agent and adhesives added to give it strength for applications of thin coats.

can it be used on the asphalt driveway surface?

Asked by: Jason
I haven't done it but yes, concrete can go over asphalt, not the other way around. The asphalt base should be strong enough to prevent further cracking and breaking though. It must be pressure washed clean to adhere well.

Can I apply Bonded Topping Mix to plywood?

Asked by: mjvb
I didn’t do this I don’t know. Put on top of my old driveway and so far it has worked out real well. It has been about nine months and survived the harsh Canadian winter without a problem. I would do it again.
