Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ease of use Does a good job on earth, struggles a bit more in rocky areas

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect weight and size I brought this post hole digger about 2 weeks ago since I wanted to install a metal fence. The holes were required to be 2' 6" deep and this digger worked like a charm. My backyard is dirt and clay as you get deeper but I had no issues getting to that depth. Drop it in, twist it and close the digger and pull it out. Seemed simple enough for me with no issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from These are horrible I made the mistake of purchasing these diggers. As a contractor that builds fences year after year I can definitely say that these are the worst hole diggers out there. Not sure why all stores went away from the fiskars diggers because they are the only ones worth the money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why the flexible handles! Great design but when you do to twist the digger, the handle bend. So it is really only good for picking up material and not digging a hole

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just like it should I see reviews where people complain about the weight - having a certain bulk to it is required so you can just drop it into the hole and have it cut into the dirt. Yes, you are now on the hook for lifting the load out - that's how it works. I found that the easiest way to work it is to drop it in the hole and twist - if it doesn't twist, you dug down too far in one shot - lift a little and twist again. This technique produced a post hole in a couple of minutes (mostly dirt, some clay) for me. This digger works very well to make post holes - just don't try to take too much at once.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, rocks and all. I bought this after the power auger I rented turned out to be not completely effective. It is a heavy tool that needs a strong back. That being said it worked great. It cleared the loose sand and fist size rocks no problem. Amazed, we even managed to pull up few skull sized rocks! Best used in conjunction with a shovel to loosen up the material then drop this in to pull it all up. If it was lighter I'd give it 5 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good for heavy soil I bought this to dig three 4 feet deep sonar tube holes. My soil is heavy and clay. This unit cannot be turned to help cut the soil as the handle attachment points are to weak and the handles just twist. I gave up after the first try as it was obvious that the handles would break or the attachment points bend and become useless. I cannot see this being any use except in light sandy soil. I am going to return it as unsuitable for purpose purchased.
