The brackets now have a rock solid connection to my concrete bases. Word of advice: After drilling your holes with a hammer-drill, make sure you vacuum out the holes with a shop vac. You'll be surprised how much concrete dust is left in the holes after drilling!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great I used these to attach a roof over my patio into concrete, and also to anchor hurricane ties to the roof structure. They worked great. The only down side was that it was sometimes difficult to determine if the anchor was set or whether it was pulling out of the concrete. Will set with epoxy too on my next use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The bolts and anchors are soft metal Using this to anchor a deck so I went with the galvanized. When the bolt is put on to hammer down the anchors the bolt actually strips the threads and almost welds itself with the anchor threads. I've used the regular steel onces and they don't do this. Long story short I ended up cutting off the bolts and thread to start over drilling larger holes and using concrete anchor glue instead. Waste of 24 bucks!

How close to the edge of the concrete slab can these get without breaking the concrete away from the side? I want to use these to attach the bottom plate of a 2x4 wood frame wall to a 4" thick slab for a shed. The slab will be made from SAKRETE Gray Concrete Mix (4000psi). If I center the bolt on the 2x4, it will be about 1 3/4" from the edge. Is that far enough away?
Asked by: FirstShed
Hello FirstShed, The minimum edge spacing for this 1/2" dia. Red Head wedge anchor is 6"; 1-3/4" is too close to the edge. You can either increase the width of the slab, allowing for greater edge distance or use Tapcon+ anchors. 3/8" dia. Tapcon+ anchors only requires an edge distance of 1-1/2". Depending on your load requirement you can add additional anchors in closer proximity than you would be able to with an wedge anchor.
