would this work as a vapor barrier and isolation for a sauna?

Asked by: Toms
I think it would work as a vapor barrier and isolate as a partial noise barrier. The wrap is like the consistency of a high grade bubble wrap.

Is reflectix a good option for insulation under the sub floor of an elevated 3 season room? One layer of reflectix good enough or 2 layers? How does this sound? Joists, apply reflectix on top, subfloor, Vapour barrier, then vinyl flooring.

Asked by: Gary
Reflectix on its own has an R value of approximately R=1. It needs an air gap to really shine. The manufacturer may be able to help with your decision (see link below). As an alternative, a 1-inch foam board has an R value of around 5. https://www.reflectixinc.com/about-reflective-technology/performance-information

Can I use this on the interior of a fiberglass sail boat to reduce condensation. I want to apply the foil to the walls and seal all edges with foil tape and adhesive, then apply vinyl over top for aesthetics. Will this reduce condensation?

Asked by: Compase Rose
I can’t say yes for sure but I think it’s worth a try depending on how many cabinets are on the walls. Maybe a small test area in a closet or cabin. As long as the bubbles don’t deflate over time. I use mine as a heat shield in the inside of the greenhouse and it keeps condensation and cold out.

To insulate a cabin floor built on posts: best to staple flat to the underside of joists or tuck between? Will several inches of warm space b/w the foil & the plywood attract rodents if use a flat sheet/layer under joists?

Asked by: nutrgirl
According to a video I watched on YouTube, it is best to staple the foil to the underside of the floor between the joists. Stapling it to the bottom of the joists will create a warm space that will attract rodents.

Is the foil rodent resistant ie. squirrels ?

Asked by: GE65
I can't say for sure, but I doubt that it would be resistant to rodents/mice/rats, etc. It basically feels like bubble wrap covered in tin foil.

Does this foil insulation have foil on one side and white on the other side or is it foil on both sides?

Asked by: Randy
The foil wrap is more or less a bubble wrap with the bubble form on the outside with a smooth interior but there is no white side.

Can I staple this to garage ceiling on top of existing drywall? Looking for solution to help with bedroom above.

Asked by: Jimmy99
Yes, you could do this. we would recommend leaving it exposed on the garage side. If you would want to install more drywall under, we would recommend applying furring strips before installing the drywall.

Hello, can i use this insulation as first layer on the exterior inside wall then can i use pink insulation between the studs and on top the studs can i put plastic vapour sheet then put my drywall ? In easy words can i use both insulation at same time?

Asked by: Rehan
No. This product acts like a vapour barrier, which shouldn't go against a cold wall. The rule is: cold wall -> insulation -> vapour barrier -> warm interior. Otherwise you risk rot/mildew/mould.
