Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the second version of the Honeywell sensor I think a number of the reviews attached to this item are actually for the RWD41 that was the first model in this line. This product is RWD42 and the differences I noted are as follows: - the alarm is now 100 dBA, up from 80 dBA - the battery compartment is easy to access by removing the front cover - the cable connects with a 1/8" stereo plug, not the phone type plug - the cable is reusable, just unplug it until it dries out - it was easy to take the kinks out of the cable and lay it flat Great product and I could easily hear the alarm throughout the condo (1657 sq ft).

Should test button sound the alarm?

Asked by: Jack
Hi Jack, thanks for contacting us. Yes, this unit also gives off a chirp sound when the battery is low and when a leak is detected with 100 dBA buzzer alarm. We recommend to use two new AA batteries, non- rechargeable. For additional questions, feel free to contact us at 1-800-633-3991. Thank you!
