Rated 2 out of 5 by from Install below a cabinet drawer.. yes... Difficult.... Read my review carefully For all the people asking can you put this in a cabinet with the drawer above the cabinet door the answer is yes.... Nevertheless it is very difficult and I have posted pictures of the finished product... On the other hand if you install it in a cabinet that is recommended (without the above drawer) you will still have difficulty.... Because.... When you level your mounting brackets inside the cabinet the mixer will not be level when it is pulled out and locked in... So you have to make the necessary adjustments on the brackets... Most likely you will have to pull the back of each bracket down a quarter to a half an inch.... No matter which cabinet style that you're going to install this in, it definitely is frustrating.... I had reached the point of no return trying to install this apparatus and was determined to get it in properly and looking good.... Good luck with yours...

The only thing I would change, would be to make the back-travel into the cabinet at the lowered position adjustable. I had to make shims to reduce this travel because I didn't have full 24 inch depth cabinet space available.

Can this be installed in a cabinet that has a top drawer?

Understanding that it would only lift it to the height of the drawer & not the countertop.
Asked by: DIYer
Absolutely not!

Can I modify this to fit in a 12” deep cabinet (front to back)?

I end up with Knape & Vogt lift. It's more stronger then Rev A. and intstalled in 20 inches deep cabinet. Depending on what are you plan to use it for. if you are going to use for Kitchen Aid mixer, I don't think 12" deep is not going to be enough room to make it work.

I wanted to get this for my aging mother. If you have to bend down anyway to release the latches, are you also basically lifting the weight of whatever's on the shelf yourself too, or does the spring provide some assistance? In other words, would she have to lean over and use her back to lift a 40 lb (for example) item anyway?
Asked by: Steph
If the item your mother is having trouble lifting is a mixer, forego this thing (I say a year and a half later) and get her a Bosch Compact. It weighs like 4 or 5 lbs, and its a way better mixer than my Hobart era Kitchenaid ever even dreamed of being. Used to run $200 or $150 if you could find it on sale, but I've had mine for awhile now (like 7ish years) so prices are undoubtedly higher these days. Worth every penny though, and allowed me to continue to bake bread (Bosch compact will handle dough for up to 3 loaves simultaneously, full size Bosch can do 6) when I couldn't lift the KA anymore. I've made everything from meringue to bagel dough in mine. Way way easier to clean, as well.

Can this be used with a cabinet that has a drawer above the compartment that you will mount it? Can it lift to counter hight with a drawer above the unit?
Asked by: David
My no drawer cupboard opening is 28 inches, I mounted down 3 inches from top and there is 3 inches below mechanism so I think you need at least 22 inches from top to bottom to allow full travel. When extended with a 3/4 inch platform I manufactured, the mixer bottom is 3 inches above mount so if you mounted the unit at highest possible it would not be at counter height but depending on mixer height you might be able to add to platform thickness, I think I could add three layers making it approximately 5 inches above top mounting. All figures are approximate but the good news is if it doesn't work Home Depot is really good about taking things back

One description says min 9” base cabinet opening and another says min 12-1/2”. Which is correct?

Asked by: Karen
It should work in either, it’s actually two separate hinge brackets and the width is dictated by the shelf board you provide.

Why can't you install this unit under a cabinet with a drawer, even to assist in lifting the mixer to a more manageable height for lifting?

What would be the minimum height opening with a cabinet with a drawer if I chose to install this unit for it to work properly?
Asked by: Jake
Not enough clearance to bring shelf up to standard height

can this be installed on a shelve that measures 20 x 15 ?

I'm seeing pictures of the shelve but I am wondering if the brackets can be installed on the short side of the shelve instead of the long side of th shelve. We have limited depth so was thinking if the brackets could go the other way..... then we woulbuy 3 units. Mixer, robot, juicer
