Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great Replaced our 10 year old tankless with this one. Much quieter. Very happy so far. The old one could be adjusted to 130 deg (which is what our plumber said is necessary to get the dishes clean) and I could make the adjustment but this one says I have to get a qualified technician to do it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect water heater its been 2 years now and no problems rental company said i was making a mistake.Super hot water in extreme cold weather and the higher demand the harder it heats. started heating garage all winter the same time i installed the water heater and my gas bill never changed. i expect it to pay for it self in 4 years. i used water manifolds so all appliances and shower can run at the same time. you can tell when the dish washer demands water because it gets a bit hotter. never run out of hot water ever. can be adjusted up to 140 F i run mine at 130 F

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Piece of Technology The unit is nice and compact and takes up way less room than a traditional unit. It uses less natural gas than a tank unit because it only turns on when you turn the tap on. I am not sure what the fuss is about the unit making so much noise. You need to literally stand next to the unit in order to hear that it is on. It is definitely quieter than a tank unit. The unit I have is a little pricy, but the reason I bought this size is because we have a basement apartment. With this tankless unit we can run both the home and apartment comfortably, and without the loss of hot water; dishwashers, washers, showers etc. For those of you using Union Gas or Enbridge for natural gas supply, you can go online and use their energy incentive towards this. You will get back $500.00. Make sure you clean the filter once a month and flush the unit once a year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great and it's quiet I bought this month in a half ago and really happy with it. I am a gas fitter I had a different one that i replaced with this tank and it's much better and hot water is consistent. I recommend this tank to anyone . It was easy to install compared to others that I have installed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Good Price! I bought a 2weeks ago and have a local plumber, KS Plumber, installed for $200 installation fee+parts($280) so total $2000 spent and save lots space after removing a storage tank. No issue for hot water (a shower & dishwash together)and hope save more energy and Albert Rebate program for $1000 so why not changing to a tankless water heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more hot water issues now Bought and had the unit installed just before Christmas 2017 and the arrival of additional family and guests. This unit supplies hot water to 3.5 bathrooms and a walk in tub.Thoroughly pleased with the results. Service from the HD and their installation crew was fantastic. We went over everything that had to be done before installation, and their arrival on the agreed date. They explained everything they were doing and answered all my questions. Have not had any issues with the unit or endless hot water. We are on well water and I was shown how to flush the unit every four months to keep the lines clean. FYI- If you sign a contract with HD for the installation, ensure that any agreements made are with the installer are included in the HD contract. i.e. removal of old (owned) electric HWT, plumbing changes for the water softener which can now be placed against the wall creating extra space, extra flexible piping etc. I did not have any problems with asking to have this included, but this is just good contracting sense. Also ask about the HD 12 month interest free loan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I bought and installed this about 6 weeks ago now, and aside from some operator issues this machine is awesome. It's pretty quite and takes up little space. It doesn't get as hot as my old hot water tank but it still gets hot enough to burn yourself and that's hot enough for me. One of the first things I noticed was I no longer need to adjust the hot water during showers. Since it never runs out all you do is set your desired temp and enjoy. I had one issue related to oxygen flow (P13) but that was due to high winds outside that day and I don't think it could suck enough air to burn properly, I think. So far if it keeps up like this I will never own a hot water tank again.

We have a high velocity heating system that uses hot water from the tank for heating the house. Will this work on that type of system?

    Asked by: Curly
Hello Curly, These heaters can be installed on air handler systems, I would contact a local plumbing contractor for details on the set up for this heater.

I just purchased this unit. Instructions say that 3/4" water lines are required. I am replacing a tank that has 1/2" piping and the house is plumbed with 1/2" piping - is possible to use this ?

    Asked by: BluenoseBuoy
Our house is also 1/2" piping and all works fine.

What is the efficiency rating for this unit?

    Asked by: BluenoseBuoy
I’m not sure of the efficiency rating, I will say this though. It’s amazing! Our natural gas bill dropped in half compared with our conventional water heater, and you can have a bath without the fear of running out of hot water. We are a family of 8, and I would never go back to regular water heater again.

Is this unit compatible with 1/2in gas line?

    Asked by: Jeff
Thank you for asking, Jeff. Please contact your local gas supply company to ensure usage of 1/2" gas line is within your local codes and will provide sufficient gas pressure on a consistent basis. We suggest using 3/4" gas lines due to their reliability to provide constant pressure over distance. As long as the 1/2" gas line is within code and can provide 5-10 inches w.c. of gas pressure constantly, there should be no issue with that gas line. If you have any further questions, please contact us at 1-866-279-4566. Thank you and have a great day.

Is it normal for the unit to exhaust natural gas for a couple seconds when it turns on? Had the local gas utility provider come sniff around all my gas lines to elimate those as a source and he found it coming from the exhaust line from the unit.

    Asked by: Matt
Hi Matt. Thanks for reaching out. Gas is released from the exhaust under normal circumstances for the following reasons: • Fan conducts post purge to vent combustion gases • Fan also cools heat exchanger • Unit remains in a “FIRE-READY” mode for 5 minutes (eliminates the “cold water sandwich”) • Unit is in standby If you feel that the amount of gas is excessive, and goes beyond what is described above, I would suggest reaching out to Rheem tech support directly to trouble shoot the challenge, and get direction. The number is 800 268 6966. Hope this helps.

Can I run this unit on propane? Do I need a conversion kit?

    Asked by: backwoodsguy
Hi backwoodsguy. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, this model is not rated for propane use and can not be converted. You can special order a propane version from your local Home Depot under article 1000857290. Just find a plumbing associate at your local store quoting this article number, and they should be able to quote you a retail price and bring it in for you. Hope this helps. Cheers.
