Rated 5 out of 5 by from This water heater booster works great. I've had this Rheem water heater booster running for a few weeks now. I paid only a few dollars more at Home Depot than my plumber friend would have paid at a wholesaler. I hardly know it's there except I haven't run out of hot water since it was installed. Prior to the booster we couldn't get 3 complete showers in the morning, now we get 4 showers without running out of hot water. The booster installed on the existing wiring circuit and all I had to change was increasing the breaker size from 20 to 30 amps. I would recommend this unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The booster works for what we need We were definitely running out of hot water. We have a 40 gallon tank and for long showers between it the last person who have cold water. Now the water booster allowed us to have for showers but it is not perfect. It cannot provide continuous hot water once the tank ghost cold the booster does not allow for a hot shower anymore it is not powerful enough. But it does give us a lot more warning that it is getting cold it doesn't work for what we want yet it is not a continuous hot water

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good investment This device offers the flexibility I was looking for in my water heating. We chose a smaller water heater and count on the booster to compensate. Besides, the scheduling allows us to use the water heater only 8 hours a day. Hopefully it will last as long as the water heater.

Does the use of this mean power ONLY goes to the booster or do I need power to the tank AND the booster?

    Asked by: 3stepping
You only need to pull one line from your electrical panel (30A). The line goes to the booster, and a second line (provided with the product) connects the booster to the water tank. The power "automatically" goes to the water tank (as a normal water tank). The booster only turns ON when the water temperature drops below the set threshold value, at this point the power to the water tank is OFF.

I've heard these are noisy. What is the Decibel Level? Is the noise constant, or, when water is running through it?

I just received my booster. I note that the fittings on the unit actually have 1/2" pipe inside. Is this intentional to throttle the water flow? What happens if I install with 3/4" fittings? I am expecting to get slightly reduced water flow.

Hello john Thanks for asking, I would recommend contacting our Tankless electric department at 877-474-6473. They would be better suited to answer that question im not sure if upsizing the water lines will effect performance negatively.

I currently have a 40 gallon natural gas hot water tank. I'd like to preheat the cold water going into the hot water tank with an electric booster instead of using gas alone to heat the water. Can this be used to preheat water?

    Asked by: Freddy
Hi Freddy. Thanks for reaching out. The answer is no. The booster should be installed on the hot water nipple (outlet). The unit is designed to prolong the amount of hot water you get out of your current tank by boosting the temperature of the warm water coming out when it falls below a desired temperature. Using it in this manner can boost your current tanks capacity by as much as 45%. Hope this helps. Cheers.
