Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional Soft Closing Full Overlay Hinge I purchased these hinges to replace the original Canac hinges on one of my kitchen cabinets. (Original had a broken internal spring.) Thankfully, the hinges fit directly into the large 35mm receiving hole on the door and the original two screw holes on the cabinet body were also positioned properly for the hinge plate. I just had to drill two additional screw holes on the door for each hinge. There are two hinges in the package as sold by HD. There are also metal cover plates that go over the screws on the door side and the cabinet side that are not shown on the photo on the HD website. A few issues with the instructions. The cabinet side mounting plate screw holes should be 37mm from the cabinet edge (not 37mm + door thickness as indicated in the instructions). (Full overlay hinge mounting,) The cabinet door up/down adjustment screw is on the lower side of the hinge plate (not the upper side). (If you mount the plate per the instruction photo it will not be able to engage the hinge arm.) I would have liked to have a bit more up/down adjustment capability than is provided. There is no instruction on how to attach or remove the door from the cabinet. The instructions should state that the door clips on to the hinge mounting plate. The hinge arm first should engage the plate at the door side and then by pressing the arm against the far side of the plate, the hinge will click on and engage. To release, press the spring pushbutton in on the end of the hinge arm. This unclips the door hinge from the cabinet. It is best to practice this before mounting the hardware on the door cabinet. And take photos for future reference. The metal finishing plates that cover the screws are snap on/off. There are no instructions for installing these, but they are easy to attach by angling them on one side and snapping on. The hinges open/close fine. They are a bit stiffer than the original hinges to open and they are quite slow to close (with the soft close feature). But maybe it will loosen up a bit with use. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

Mounting plate should only be set back 1 7/16” not 1 7/16” + door thickness as described in install instructions. Had to redo the whole thing and fill in holes incorrectly drilled. Should have read these reviews first as I see others have encountered this issue. One of them was 5 years ago. Nice to see Home Depot follows up on these reviews and has suppliers correct their instructions. Not!!

Do I have to replace both regular hinges on the doors or can I just replace one with soft-close?

I was able to just replace one hinge on my kitchen cupboards. It’s be quite a while and there have been no problems so far.
