Rated 5 out of 5 by from 13" planer-works great - but unable to register Very good so far although I haven't had the chance to use it much. Very smooth, no skype and will definitely suit my shop needs. I have one issue though and that is, I can't seem to be able to register the planer on the Rigid site in order to get the lifetime warranty. Somehow, the registration form will not accept the model # R4331. Can someone please tell me how to go about registering this tool. I followed all directions - they even show you where to find your model # on your box....you can't go wrong but no, it won't take it. On the box it says R4331 but on the planer head it notes R4331T. Neither one works. Rigid, please let me know. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy This is my second Rigid purchase and like my cast iron table saw I was pleased how easy it was to set up and fine tune. The carriage lock seems to help eliminate snipe and is only available on more expensive models like Dewalt. The controls are easy to operate and I'm sure the Repeat A Cut settings will be helpful when milling several planks. I built a rolling cart so that the outfeed table matches the height of my island workbench. Six and eight foot boards exit the planer and are supported by the bench - no snipe. I am fast becoming a Rigid fan especially with their improved on line "lifetime warranty".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Below expectations Well, at less than 400$, this deal was too nice to be true and had to return it. Thanks to Home Depot guarantee satisfaction. I purchase this brand as my brother as a similar model from 20 years ago and still run strong. That was then... Look like the units are put together really quickly. The results were that the finish job was bad on a 10 in wide pine board that was already plane. Even the deep adjustment was off by at least 1/8. Perhaps this is why the price dropped compared to the competitor models. My guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class! Best = performance and quality/$ A planer has been on my “nice to have” list to list for years. Is this the best DIY planer out there? Not likely but it is probably the best value unit, especially on sale and with a lifetime warranty. Does everything you would want! And if you’re at all timid or apprehensive, YouTube offers lots of help to get you started. I’ve found snipe is directly proportionate to levelling tables and supporting wood as it exits. Been extremely pleased so far, no regrets!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jams easily The small ball that measures cut depth constantly gets jams to the point where it holds pieces in the cutter. The planer leaves horrible snipe that can be somewhat minimized with very small cuts and adjusting the in/out tables. The height adjustment is extremely inaccurate, the dial says 1/64in per quarter turn but will sometimes be more or less. I've had my current one of these planers for a little under 2 years after the mechanism on the first one broke while in use and exploded a piece of wood inside of the machine. Home Depot was able to replace because I was still within the 30 day refund period. Definitely would not recommend this planer, there are much better (yellow) planers that will give you better results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Feed roller got broken/worn off the joint! I have finished no more than 200 ln.ft. of SPF wood.. and the feed roller "joint" (on one side only) worn off. It just cut the metal like a butter. The roller is off the level on about 1/16". When I run a board the roller snaps (stops) every 4-6 inches and blade damaging the wood. Also, the Ind-I-cut metal ball hid inside the hole breaking through the plastic (I have tried to glue it.. didn't work) I would never buy it again, better spend more more in something like makita or at least DeWalt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value for the price I've used this planer in the middle of winter, outside, to plane very wet green lumber. It barrels through everything and can take 1/8 cuts on 13 inch boards with ease. The blades remained sharp even after planing a lot of bark and stomp wood. There are nice safety features that ensures the planer doesn't destroy itself if it jams and that it doesn't run if the chip cover is removed. The only issue I've had is that it tends to jam if I take heavy cuts of wet wood with it. The simple fix to this is to take light cuts and to clear the chip chute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best gets better! The 2 blade planer had a spot in my shop for over 5 years. Even as a hobbyist woodworker, that planer cut over 3 thousand (conservative estimate) linear feet of lumber and never once let me down. And it equalled machines costing thousands of dollars more to purchase. And this 3 blade planer has made an excellent tool markedly better. The fit, finish and muscle of this newest planer is as good as, or better, than the old planer. As long as RIDGID continues to produce tools that are made for the woodworker, they will keep and likely increase their share of the market. I just hope they don't start making changes with just the change in mind. So far, so good. Or should I say "GREAT!!!!!"

I have been using my table top planer and am very happy with it. I would like to know where I can purchase a dust collection hose for it as the dust exhaust currently sends chips all over the place including me. Thank you.

Asked by: Steve
Hi Steve, Most of the home depots will sell an attachment for that, once you combine the attachment with a shop vac you should no longer have that issue. Regards, RIDGID Canada

Can you run 2 1/4” x 7 1/2” lumber through this planner??

Asked by: Jrog
Yes you can.  You could run maximum 11-1/2” wide by 5-1/2 thick material through this planer.  Wouldn’t recommend doing so. But it would fit.  It’s a good planer overall.
